Swapna Patker is an Indian clinical psychologist, celebrity life coach, writer, film producer and businesswoman. In August 2022, an audio tape of Indian politician Sanjay Raut went viral in which he allegedly abused Swapna.

Swapna Patker was born on Friday, April 16, 1982 (age 40 years; in 2022) in Mumbai. His zodiac sign is Aries. After completing her engineering, she did her Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery at Chatrapati Sahu Ji Maharaj University, Kanpur, in 2015. Swapna also holds a PhD from Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj University, Kanpur. However, his degree was believed to be fake and he was arrested by the Bandra police for the same in 2021.

Clinical Psychologist
In March 2004, he joined a mental health company Neverending Dreams- The Corporate Enhancement Co. He worked there for four years and then worked as a visiting officer in various educational institutes in Mumbai such as St. Francis Institute of Management & Research, KC College of Management Studies, ITM Group of Institutions, and Garware Institute of Education and Career Development. He later started Mindworks Training Systems in Mumbai, an online health clinic and counseling organization. In 2012, he founded ‘Dream & Happiness’ in Mumbai, a mental health, training and coaching institute. In October 2016, he joined the online psychological therapy platform ‘IWill by EPsyClinic’ as a senior psychologist. He worked at Lilavati Hospital & Research Centre, Mumbai, as a clinical psychologist, from 2019 to 2021.

He owns a film production company called Royal Maratha Entertainment. Swapna released two Marathi films ‘Balkadu’ (2015) and ‘Rakhmabai’ (2016) under her banner.

Controversy
Accused of Having a Fake Degree
In April 2021, Swapna was arrested for possessing a fake degree. Reportedly, his scam was recovered when a social worker Gurdeep Kaur Singh received an envelope with documents related to his fake degree from a stranger. Gurdeep immediately filed a police complaint against Swapna and she was arrested for possessing a fake degree. According to some media sources, based on his degree, he got a job in one of the leading hospitals in Mumbai. Later, during the hearing of the case, Swapna said that Indian politician Sanjay Raut planned everything for her arrest. Swapna says,
The arrest was a “revenge arrest” as I filed a case for stalking by a certain individual “allegedly at the behest of Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut.”
According to the 13-page decision of the Bombay High Court,
The applicant is a woman. In the urgent situation following the Covid19 Pandemic, the aspect of the petitioner’s continued detention should also be considered. The petitioner claims that one minor son and others are dependent on him. Since we are of the opinion that the offense punishable under Section 467, which carries imprisonment for life, is not prima facie made out, in the peculiar facts of the case, the above factors persuade us to grant bail to the petitioner pending consideration of this petition to quash charges for offenses punishable under Sections 467 and 468 of the Penal Code.”
The court further stated,
Since … the disclosure of the legal position turns to the facts of the case, prima facie, the PhD certificate, does not fall within the scope of the definition of valuable security. The prosecution’s submission that the intrinsic evidence of the PhD certificate betrays the fact that the certificate was forged, if viewed against the background of the patent’s typographical and grammatical errors, may carry some substance. However, at this stage, at most the charge for the offense punishable under Section 465 can be said to have been prima facie made out. The further issue of whether an offense punishable under Section 467 of the Penal Code has been committed is a matter that requires consideration. As the investigation is ongoing, we do not plan to delve into this aspect of the matter. It is sufficient to observe that the question of complicity of the petitioner for the offense punishable under Section 467 of the Penal Code will require consideration and examination.”
However, on 27 June 2021, Swapna received bail from the Bombay High Court.
Sanjay Raut’s Abusive Audio Tape
On 29 July 2022, after Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut’s arrest in a money laundering case, his abusive audio tape went viral on various social media platforms. In the audio, he abuses Swapna Patker. In an interview, when Swapna was asked about the audio tape, she said that the rift between Swapna and Sanjay started soon after the death of Indian politician Bal Thackeray in 2012. During the interview, she shared a series of incidents. He said,
After Bala Saheb, Shiv Sena lost the support it had gained as well. And Sanjay Raut started with all his nonsense. He turned into a free bird and started doing whatever he wanted. He used to instruct me at every step of my life- don’t do this, don’t do that; don’t meet this person, don’t meet that person. In 2013, I was attacked twice with a sharp knife. I also have an FIR filed at Mahim police station. In another incident, my car was vandalized in Vakola and I registered an FIR in Vakola police station as well. To date, no one has been arrested. I still don’t know the culprit. Each and everything has been manipulated according to Raut’s wishes and desires. It took me 8 years to realize that.”
He said that he never realized that the 2013 attack on him was planned by Sanjay Raut. She further said that in 2014, Raut became very possessive of her and hired encounter expert Praful Bhonsle, who used to interrogate her family and friends. Praful also used to do daily checks on Swapna’s activities. He further said that he also started abusing her for not agreeing to his orders. Swapna then submitted a recording of the call in the court where Raut used abusive language against her. In 2017, even his Facebook account was hacked and suicide posts were made from his account. He accused Raut and his friends for it.

Swapna said that the mental disorder continued to increase, and in 2020, she started receiving video calls on WhatsApp from some unknown numbers where some naked men used to talk. It is also said that Sanjay Raut is behind all the activities as Swapna is a witness in the Patra land scam case where Sanjay is the prime suspect. During an interview, when he was asked about taking some legal action against him, he said,
I have been suffering since 2013, I have contacted the police, to NCW, NHRC, High Court; I have tried everything I can. I soon realized that even the court did not consider this a critical situation and did not appeal to my case. I have nowhere to go. No one helped me and I was slandered at every step. I want to ask everyone, if a woman experiences such an ordeal, where should she go? All authorities have failed me. I have written to Uddhav Thackeray, to the PMO, Arvind Kejriwal, Sonia Gandhi, Devendra Fadnavis, Chitra Wagh, Subhash Desai, Anil Desai. I have done everything possible for me to do. I don’t want to bring this into the public domain and ruin my reputation and career, but I have nowhere to go now. Twitter is a last resort for me.”

Swapna also filed a harassment case against Sanjay Raut in 2021. On 31 July 2022, she filed a complaint against Raut under IPC sections 504 (insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation), and 509 (intent to insult honor of a woman).
