In a recent Instagram video, Curry-Lee shared some of her stories. She began by explaining that she overshares about her personal life and that’s how and why she started talking openly about her mental health and struggles. She also talked about why she took a break from sharing her story online.

“In 2017, I said if I was going to be a social media content creator, I wanted to put some meaning behind it. And for me, that also means, I want to shed light on mental health, talk about my mental health and also talk about how we can change the stigma around it,” he said. “And my contribution to trying to change the stigma around mental health is to share my own personal experiences, the things that I deal with when it comes to mental health.”

She later explained that she had five concussions and was in a very abusive relationship in the past, as well as several other experiences that “jump started my mental health journey.”

Curry-Lee began blogging about her life in 2017 and says she is comfortable sharing her struggles and journey in hopes of helping others who can relate. “I really enjoy talking about my own personal experiences, my life, the good, the bad, the ugly and all that,” he said. “But at the end of the day, I’m a real person with real mental health issues. This is not a facade. I deal with anxiety every day. I have anxiety right now if you can’t hear it in my voice.

She went on to explain that she sometimes gets negative comments about the way she voices her opinions and struggles, and it’s starting to get to her.

After giving birth to her son Daxon in November 2021, her hormones changed and she began to deal with anxiety about her job and negative comments from people. Dealing with mental health issues, she felt she had to step back from being open and honest online. But she felt her calling was to help others feel they weren’t alone, and she wanted to be that voice again.

“I let go of my fear of what people think of me, people judge me, because this is not for everyone. Oversharing is not for everyone,” he said. “I let their thoughts and opinions infiltrate our journey together. So I’m going to go back and focus more on who I’m doing this to. I do this for those of you who feel like there is so much more you could be doing in your life, but your mental health is holding you back.”

Curry-Lee ended her video by saying, “Let’s continue on this journey together. I’m right there with you and we’ll be fine.”

Another added, “Thank you for sharing this. I really needed to hear your message this morning. I also deal with mental illness. To the world, I seem to have it all, but my anxiety and depression fight me to enjoy the moment. I appreciate your vulnerability and your oversharing. Your message makes me feel like I’m not alone. Keep doing what you’re doing because you’re touching and reaching people who need to hear your message. Praying for better days ahead. ?”
