Speaking to the publication, Sweeney revealed that she began auditioning for roles at the age of 12 and carefully created a “character book” for her role, ensuring a clear separation from her personal life.
“I wanted to make sure that there were no memories of me, my own life, in the characters,” he explained. “I think that’s what makes me feel the most human, being able to have things that are personal to me.”
The Emmy nominee also shared that her parents were instrumental in her journey in Hollywood, supporting her through the ups and downs of auditions. “I would attend five to ten auditions a week and not get a single call back,” he said.

However, despite the many obstacles he faced, Sweeney stuck to his beliefs.
“I always believe that you are prepared to fail if you have a plan B. No matter how long or how hard it is, I will keep trying,” he said. Triumph arrived with important roles in “Everything Sucks,” “The Handmaid’s Tale” and “Sharp Objects.”
Reflecting on his industry experience, Sweeney outlines his learnings: avoid the hearsay response and focus on the project. He also addressed rumors swirling about his family’s politics, admitting to feeling “beaten by it.” He added, “It’s hard to sit and watch and not be able to stand on my own.”
Sydney Sweeney Addresses Romance Rumors With Glen Powell
MEGA
Back in April, romance rumors swirled when Sweeney and “Top Gun: Maverick” star Glen Powell were spotted almost on and off the set of their upcoming romantic comedy drama “Anyone But You.”
They continued to raise eyebrows as their chemistry was palpable at CinemaCon 2023 in Las Vegas, where Sweeney jokingly revealed his nickname for Powell, calling him “Top Gun.” Their banter continued as Powell expressed his fondness for the handle, saying, “I love it when he calls me that.”
However, after months of speculation about their romance, Sweeney finally addressed the buzz. He affirms their strong bond and dismisses talk of romance.
“It’s a rom-com,” he told the outlet, adding, “That’s what people want! Glen and I don’t care. We have a lot of fun together, and we have a lot of respect for each other.”
The actor explained their relationship by saying, “He’s a hard worker, and I’m a hard worker. We’re excited about the press tour, and I just left ADR with him. We talk all the time like, ‘That’s funny.’”

In another part of his interview, Sweeney was very supportive of Sam Levinson, the mastermind behind “Euphoria” who has faced mounting criticism for his project.
Sweeney praised Levinson’s directorial prowess amid the boring themes of the HBO drama. He insisted that alongside his “Euphoria” co-stars, they are collectively ready to voice concerns about the show’s production if they “don’t feel comfortable with something” or “see something” they don’t like.
Commenting on the public’s treatment of Levinson, he empathized with her position, adding, “It’s hard to see someone really get dumped by the public and the media when there’s nobody there.”
“We are there; obviously, we are still working on the show and supporting.”
Sweeney echoes the essence of art as a provocateur, encouraging discomfort and unconventional thinking, explaining, “The point is to make people uncomfortable and think outside the box. What else is art for?”
