According to the entertainer, he and his co-stars were devastated by the news of Cloud’s accidental drug overdose in July. They couldn’t believe they had lost their friend at the age of 25 and mourned his death together, finding comfort in each other. In Sweeney’s words:

“[My costars and I] always on the phone to each other crying because it was so shocked. I didn’t think it would really hit me or hit me until we were filming, and I wouldn’t see Angus on set.”

“(At least) when we’re filming, all our eyes are on each other, and we’re there for each other, just in a different way than we can when we’re all in very separate places on the world,” Sweeney explained to himself Glamour closing story. He also noted Cloud’s memory will live on in the industry thanks to the role he played, saying:

“It’s interesting when someone dies in our industry because they live on in many forms.”

Although filming in Cloud’s absence will be a challenging feat for the “The White Lotus” actor, working on “Euphoria” may help him heal. She claims the show serves as an emotional outlet through her character Cassie despite the dark storyline.

“Cassie is definitely the closest – especially in the first season – to me that I’ve ever played, and she means a lot to me,” Sweeney explained. “But it’s almost like therapy: where I can let go so much … that when I go home, I feel free.”

Sweeney’s “Euphoria” co-star Zendaya echoed similar sentiments in her Instagram tribute. The “Dune” actor shared a black-and-white photo of Cloud along with a lengthy message about how grateful he was to work with the late actor.

“Words are not enough to describe the infinite beauty that is Angus (Conor). I’m so grateful I had the opportunity to know him in this life, call him brother, see his warm, kind eyes and bright smile, or hear his infectious laugh (I’m smiling now just thinking about it),” Zendaya wrote, adding:

“I know people use this expression when they talk about their loved ones… ‘they can light up any room they walk into,’ but boy, let me tell you, he’s the best. I want to remember it that way.”

“For all the infinite light, love, and joy he always gave us. I will cherish every moment. My heart goes out to her mom and her family at this time, and please be kind and patient because grief looks different for everyone,” Zendaya concluded her tribute.
