Taniya Bhatia is an Indian cricketer, who plays for the Indian national cricket team mainly as a wicket keeper. At the age of 13, she became the youngest female cricketer to play for the Punjab senior team at the national level. In 2018, Bhatia was named as one of the five stars of women’s cricket by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

Taniya Bhatia, also known as Taniyaa Sapna Bhatia was born on Friday, 28 November 1997 (age 25 years; in 2022) in Chandigarh, India. His zodiac sign is Sagittarius. He attended DAV Senior High School, Chandigarh. As of 2022, she is pursuing Bachelor of Arts (second year) from MCM DAV College for Women, Chandigarh. Taniya grew up watching her father and uncle play cricket. His father played cricket at the all-India university level in the 80s. He was also a stand-in wicketkeeper for Punjab in the late 80s. Naturally, he was also inclined towards the sport and started his training at a nearby cricket academy when he was seven years old. A year later, he joined the cricket academy at DAV Senior High School, Sector8, Chandigarh. At DAV, he started training under Sukhwinder Bawa and then under Yograj Singh. After four years of cricket training at the DAV academy, Bhatia turned up for the Punjab U-19 trials and made an immediate decision. He was 11 years old then. Till 2022, he is being trained under coach RP Singh.

Taniya Bhatia is the daughter of Sanjay Bhatia and Sapna Bhatia. His father worked at the National Bank of India in Chandigarh. He has an older sister, Sanjana, and a younger brother, Sehaj. Sehaj is also a cricketer, who plays for the Indian U-19 cricket team.

Taniya made her domestic cricket debut in 2008, playing for the Punjab U-19 team at the national level. He became the youngest player to play for the Punjab senior team in an inter-state domestic tournament at the age of 13. In 2015, he represented the U-19 North Zone team as captain in an inter-zonal cricket tournament in Guwahati. In that tournament, he scored 227 runs and took 10 wickets. When he was 16, he joined the India A squad and played in warm-up matches. At one point, he decided to quit the sport because he was in a professional slump for about two years. However, his family encouraged him to continue his cricket career. Taniya has also played for the Supernovas team in the Indian Premier League.

Taniya made her Women’s T20 International debut for India on 13 February 2018 against South Africa Women in Potchefstroom. The same year, on 11 September, she made her Women’s One Day International (WODI) debut against Sri Lanka in Galle.
After that, she played for the Indian team in the 2018 ICC Women’s World Twenty20 tournament in the West Indies. In January 2020, Taniya represented India at the 2020 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Australia. On 16 June 2021, Taniya made her Test cricket debut for India against England in Bristol.
Bhatia was named in the Indian squad for the 2022 Women’s Cricket World Cup in New Zealand in January 2022. In the same year, Bhatia represented India at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England.

I will never forget what I learned under him. It helps me to be disciplined. I watch my fitness like a hawk. It feels quite easy to play with girls my age later. If you set yourself a high standard when you’re still learning, it’s easier to face the challenges of top-flight cricket when you grow up.”
