Tanmay Bhat made her scriptwriting debut in 2007 with UTV Bindass’ program ‘Hass Ley India.’ This youth-oriented show is a stand-up comedy show that showcases celebrity interviews. In 2008, Tanmay Bhat wrote for ‘MTV Wassup – Voice Of Youngistaan.’ The video jockey of this show is famous actor, Ayushmann Khurrana. In 2009, Tanmay Bhat wrote the screenplay and dialogues for Disney Channel India’s teen sitcom TV series, ‘Kya Mast Hai Life.’ The show stars actors like Vishal Malhotra, Nazneen Ghaani, and Sana Amin Sheikh. In 2009, Tanmay Bhat wrote the script for NDTV Imagine’s celebrity talk show, ‘Oye! Friday!.’ The show is hosted by famous actor, Farhan Akhtar.
All India Bakchod (AIB)
In 2013, Tanmay Bhat along with other comedians like Gursimran Khamba, Rohan Joshi, and Ashish Shakya founded a comedy company called, All India Bakchod (AIB). In the same year, they created their YouTube channel and started doing comedy sketches. In 2014, they ran ‘All India Bakchod Knockout,’ a roast program hosted by Karan Johar and starring Arjun Kapoor and Ranveer Singh. The event was a great success. Controversy
Investigation Against Tanmay Bhat
In May 2016, the Mumbai Police Commissioner ordered an investigation into Tanmay Bhat after a video of the comedian’s standup comedy surfaced on Facebook. The video features a fictional conversation between Sachin Tendulkar and Lata Mangeshkar discussing whether Virat Kohli is better than Sachin Tendulkar or not. The video was not taken well by fans and celebrity viewers and a complaint was filed by BJP leader Ashish Shelar accusing Tanmay Bhat of mocking and insulting Sachin Tendulkar and Lata Mangeshkar. The video was later deleted from Facebook.
FIR Against Tanmay Bhat
In 2017, an FIR was filed against AIB co-founder Tanmay Bhat after an inappropriate image of Narendra Modi with a dog filter was uploaded and circulated from AIB’s social media handles. The image is of Narendra Modi standing with the phone in his hand using the dog filter on Snapchat. Many followers of Narendra Modi were offended and they even raised a debate about the Congress Political Party being involved in this idea.

In 2015, an FIR was registered by activist Santosh Daundkar, against 14 people including Karan Johar, Arjun Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, and the entire cast of All India Bakchod. The complaint was filed because of the abusive and obscene language used in the event.

In 2018, Tanmay Bhat was accused of keeping quiet despite knowing about sexual harassment at her company, All India Bakchod. An employee of the company, Mahima Kukreja accused the comedian, Utsav Chakraborty of sending inappropriate text messages and pictures. Knowing everything about this, Tanmay Bhat chose to ignore it and said nothing which earned him online hate which resulted in his removal from the post of CEO of AIB. Due to these allegations, Amazon India removed Tanmay Bhat from the Comicstaan season 2 judging panel.

Tanmay Bhatt Dropped From Kotak Campaign
In 2023, Kotak Mahindra Bank canceled its 811 ad campaign named ‘#SamayKoSahiKaamPeLagao’ with Tanmay Bhat and Samay Raina. The campaign sparked controversy on social media when people started posting screenshots of Tanmay Bhat’s old tweets in which she mocked the Hindu god Ganesha. The bank apologized and issued a statement explaining the cancellation of their association with Tanmay Bhat.
