In 1999, Tarun made his Bollywood debut with the film ‘Pyaar Mein Kabhi Kabhi’ in which he made a special appearance. In 2004, he appeared in three Hindi films Hawas, Sheen, and 19 Revolutions, which were low-budget films. In 2007, he appeared in Imtiaz Ali‘s film Jab We Met in which he played the role of Anshuman, the lover of Geet (played by Kareena Kapoor). In this film, Anshuman’s dialogue which gained the audience’s attention was,
..kyu dekhu main ganne ke khet? kya khaas baat hai ganne ke khet mein? nahi dekhne mujhe ganne ke khet!” (why should I watch sugarcane fields? what is s o special about sugarcane field? I don’t want to see sugarcane fields!”)

In 2016, he made his Tamil debut with the film ‘Kanithan’ in which he played the role of a fake certificate scam kingpin named Thura Sarkar. He garnered appreciation for his performance in this film.
Tarun continued appearing in Tamil films like ‘Kaththi Sandai’ (2016) as Tamizhselvan’s accomplice, ‘Kanchana 3’ (2013) as minister Shankar, and ‘Dagaalty’ (2020) as Vijay Samrat.

Controversy
On 24 July 2012, Tarun Arora’s Love Shack bar and restaurant in Amarajyothi Layout was raided by the Central Crime Branch, where it was found that the discotheque was running the bar illegally following which a case was registered at Ulsoor police station, and the police arrested the manager along with two disc jockeys.
