He had an outstanding career, especially his senior year on the court, when he was awarded the Dallas City League 4A District 14 Most Valuable Player and received First Team All-District recognition as a cornerback and returner. Gipson had 35 tackles on defense, nine pass breakups, and two fumble recoveries. While serving as the team’s offensive leader, he amassed over 1,400 all-purpose yards and 14 touchdowns. Gipson spent his career as a quarterback, wide receiver, free safety, and punt and kick return specialist. He was recruited by Baylor, Louisville, Fresno State, and Idaho.
