About Stanley Myers

Stanley Myers, of Swansea, is the third Military Judge for the South Carolina Army National Guard and the first African-American in the state to hold the position. Stanley Myers is a military judge, managing partner and attorney of Moore Bradley Myers, and a Lieutenant Colonel in the South Carolina National Guard.

He has various high-ranking titles, but when asked what he prefers to be called, he says “just Stanley.” He attributes his humility to his family and roots in the Swansea region and Calhoun County.

Myers’ dedication earned him an athletic scholarship to The Citadel, where he currently serves on the Board of Visitors. As a four-year starting quarterback for the Bulldogs, he set several records. Although he admits his Citadel record is not on par with his high school record, his time at the military college proved significant.

He earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from Citadel in 1998. He earned his JD from the UDC David A. Clarke School of Law in Washington, DC in 2003.

Because of his siblings, Myers always aspired to be a lawyer. “I have two older brothers and an older sister,” Myers said. “They are 12, 13 years older than me. Every day, I would come home from school and the show would be either Matlock or Perry Mason so I guess, on some level, I naturally just said, ‘Well if I want to be something, maybe I should be a lawyer.’ “
