As Rolling Stone reports, Foo Fighters frontman and close friend of Taylor Hawkins, Dave Grohl, gave Shane a special introduction.

“Ladies and gentlemen, we have another drummer coming and playing with us, and let me tell you, I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone hit the drums as hard as this guy, but more than that, he’s family us, Grohl began.

Taylor Family Thanks ‘Global Foo Fighters Community’ For Their Support

Taylor’s widow, Alison Hawkins, wrote a touching tribute to thank fans for the outpouring of support they have received in the months since his death.

On March 25, Hawkins died in Columbia, where the Foo Fighters had been scheduled to perform. Emergency services were called to his hotel room after he complained of chest pains; however, he was found dead in his hotel room when they arrived.

Forensic investigations revealed several types of drugs in his body, including heroin, antidepressants, and morphine, among others, which may have triggered the overdose. However, medical experts also found that Hawkins’ heart weighed 600 grams – twice the weight of a normal male heart – at the time of his death.
