But there’s also the possibility that Taylor is currently single and juggling her academic and athletic life in Minnesota.
Taylor, a Red Wing High School alumnus, committed to Minnesota in 2018 and will graduate in 2022 with a degree in kinesiology and sports marketing. The forward already stood out in high school, having been named the All-USA Women’s Hockey Player of the Year in 2018. Additionally, she won gold medals with the USA Women’s Under-18 team in 2018, 2017 and 2016.
Taylor received the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award and was selected as the WCHA Player of the Year in his senior year in 2021. He continued his athletic career at Minnesota after college, and he was named the WCHA Forward of the Year last season. He became the ninth Gopher to reach the 2000-point plateau earlier this year. In February, Heise played in his 169th career game, setting a new program record. So, since her late teens, the woman has been very active, earning medals and awards left and right. Heise might not announce her boyfriend’s name right now, but we might see him with her one day.
Taylor Heise’s Parents: Amy and Tony Heise
Amy and Tony Heise, Taylor’s parents, are both former NCAA basketball players. Tony and Amy Heise were basketball players at UW-River Falls, where Tony graduated in 1991. When their only daughter expressed an interest in hockey instead of basketball, the couple was surprised. Taylor was in first grade when he told his parents he wanted to play hockey.
They may believe the passion for the sport will fade with time, but it is growing stronger. The family lives in Lake City, Minnesota, and they don’t have their hockey team. Such a long drive to Red Wing for Taylor’s youth hockey meant a long commute for Amy and Tony, and when he signed up, it meant going back and forth from the Twin Cities four days a week during the offseason.
Heise admitted in an interview that it was difficult for him to be away from his family because he had always been a homebody. During an interview with CBS News, Heise said that he would cry if he had to go to USA Hockey training camp. Nathan and Ryan are Taylor’s younger brothers. Both of his older brothers are basketball players, following in their parents’ footsteps.
Nathan is a 6’4 guard for the University of Northern Iowa. Nate received the MVC Commissioner’s Academic Excellence Award and was named Honorable Mention his freshman year. He scored 276 points in 32 games, an average of 8.1 points per game. Nathan was limited to just two games in his sophomore season due to a season-ending hand injury. Ryan Heise, Taylor’s younger brother, just committed to Upper Iowa University. Ryan, the youngest member of the family, is blessed with an incredible height of 6’9 and plays forward. He graduated from Lake City High School and averaged 9.6 points per game as a senior, earning him a spot on the HVL All-Conference team.
