Despite Massive Success, Swift Has Also Faced Criticism Since ‘Midnights’ Released

YouTube video
The big impact of Swift’s new 13-song success story isn’t exactly positive.

Some critics were unhappy with Swift’s “Anti-Hero” music video. The music video, released the same day as the “Midnights” LP, contains a scene featuring Swift weighing herself on a scale that clearly reads “fat” in response.

Listeners voiced their concerns on social media shortly after the release of the music video.

According to our report on the matter, A Twitter user expressed their frustration with Swift’s lack of response to social media chatter alleging the inclusion of fatphobic imagery at the time, and also how some fans reacted to the chatter.

“When @lizzo has a word that is deemed capable in one of his songs, he apologizes and corrects it. Thousands of disabled people talk about it. Same with Beyonce. But Taylor has a fatphobic image and it’s ‘you don’t get it’ aimed at fat people?” the tweet was read.

The thread inspired a wide variety of responses: many users agreed and others struggled to see the alleged illustration of fatphobia depicted in the video.

The situation soon ended up being discussed on “The View,” with the host hitting back at critics who claimed Swift deliberately used fatphobic imagery, arguing that critics had misinterpreted Swift’s intended message.

Swift-related conversations on social media will soon return to celebration mode following the announcement of her Billboard chart achievement on Monday!

Fans must have been deep in a ‘lavender haze’ in response to Swift’s excitement.
