Teddi Mellencamp Is Sharing Her Story On Social Media In The Hope It Helps Others

“Lots of questions about the update. This is the truth; there isn’t one, which is probably one of the hardest parts about this. Waiting. Yesterday, I had surgery. I had melanoma removed. I have inflamed lymph nodes so they are also removed and additional biopsies are being done. Hopefully I’ll get that decision soon,” her caption began. “Next Wednesday I will do a full genetic mutation test for BRCA2, etc. I’m not sharing this for sympathy- I’m sharing it because one of the things that kept me going through all of this was your message telling me that you got tested.”

His caption continued to show his appreciation for his family, friends and medical team. He also said he will do his best to answer his followers’ questions about the process. “I give myself permission to fail on the days I need to and work hard on the rest, showing up for me, my family and all my work streams to achieve new goals,” her caption continued. “Life comes in waves and we will always be stronger for it…on good days and bad.”

A week ago, Mellencamp shared a PET Scan update and explained what’s to come, along with a reminder to get checked. “PET scan update after: looked at the PET scan and they think I’m prone to melanoma. I will need surgical removal of the wide excision and node mapping. During surgery they will also perform a sentinel lymphoid biopsy. Because with the PET scan they can’t see if it has spread to the lymph nodes,” he wrote in his caption.

Her caption continued, “I got 2 more biopsies of new locations today and surgery on Tuesday. Spots 3 & 4 in the picture near my shoulder are the ones they are worried could go to the lymph nodes and will be a big related removal. Will see a specialist later genetics to see if I might have a BRCA2 mutation. Thank you for the outpouring of love and support 💕 Please go get checked.”
