The teenage daughter of a wealthy Massachusetts family believed to have been killed in a murder-suicide this week was “brilliant” and “very spiritual,” according to one of her professors.
Arianna “Aria” Kamal, 18, was “a brilliant student and an amazing singer,” one of her teachers said in a statement after news broke that Kamal and her parents had been found dead in their 27-room mansion in Dover, about about 40 years. minutes outside of Boston.
“He loves to sing and is interested in going to Italy with the College’s opera group,” Melissa Hammerle wrote in a statement released through Middlebury College, where Kamal, a freshman, studies neuroscience.
Kamal recently read at Middlebury’s Lessons and Carols service and sang in the College Choir, the school said.
“She is connected and engaged in class, and passionate about everything she does,” Hammerle added.
“She is a beautiful writer and always gives 110 percent. He is very spiritual and goes deep into the material in the first year seminar course.”

In a YouTube video titled “Effects of Sound Frequency on Heart Rate Variability,” Kamal discusses the topic of how noise affects heart rate, noting, “I have sensory processing differences so I’m really aware of stress or stress-relieving effects of sound , personally.”
A 2023 graduate of the prestigious Milton Academy, Kamal studied Mindfulness in Education at Middlebury, a seminar taught by Hammerle.
Arianna was apparently home for the Christmas holidays when she was found dead with her parents, Teena and Rakesh Kamal, in their $5.45 million home.
Their bodies were found about 7:30 p.m. Thursday, and a gun was found near Rakesh Kamal, Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey said.
The district attorney described the “terrible tragedy” as a “domestic violence situation.”

He declined to say whether the three family members were shot dead – and by whom.
Their bodies were found by a relative who went to check on them after not hearing from them for several days, police said.
Kamal’s family appears to be facing financial difficulties, according to online records.
Police said there was no record of past disturbances at the home or issues with the family.
The sprawling family mansion was foreclosed on a year ago and sold to Massachusetts-based Wilsondale Associates LLC for $3 million, according to real estate records obtained by The Post.

The Kamals bought the 19,000-square-foot estate — which has 11 bedrooms and 13 bathrooms — for $4 million in 2019, records show.
Teena and her husband, who also goes by Rick, previously ran a Massachusetts-based education systems company called EduNova.
The company was launched in 2016 but dissolved in December 2021, according to state records.
Teena Kamal filed for Chapter 13 bankruptcy in September 2022 – listing between $1 million and $10 million in liabilities, according to the filing.
The case was however dismissed two months later due to insufficient documents.
Teena, a Harvard alumna, was listed as one of the board of directors for the American Red Cross of Massachusetts.
