A teenage girl accused of fatally shooting her father and younger brother, then called 911 on herself — telling a Nevada dispatcher, “I couldn’t help the urge to kill someone,” according to court filings.
Mashenka Reid, 17, was arrested Friday afternoon after police found her father and brother — described as a 4- or 5-year-old boy — dead from gunshot wounds in the family’s Reno apartment, according to the Reno Gazette-Journal.
Reid’s younger sister was also in the house — but survived by hiding in a locked bedroom, which a police officer had to kick to get her to safety.
The first 911 call about the massacre came from a neighbor who reported gunshots and screams for help.
Then Reid himself dialed 911 and allegedly confessed to killing his family member, according to an affidavit filed in Reno Justice Court obtained by the newspaper.
“I shot my father. I shot my brother. My brother is dead,” he told emergency operators, the document said.
“I couldn’t resist the urge to kill someone,” he said.

Reid also said he dropped the suspected murder weapon, a Walther PPS, in the apartment.
The first officer on the scene restrained the teenager and placed him on the floor, before going to check on the welfare of other family members.
Reid’s brother was found lying on a couch with a gunshot wound to the head, the affidavit said.

The teenager’s father was found in the garage with gunshot wounds to the chest and back. Paramedics confirmed that both victims died at the scene. As of Tuesday, they had not been publicly identified.
There is no information from the authorities about a possible motive for the double murder.
Reid has been charged as an adult with two counts of open murder and an additional count of attempted murder with a deadly weapon. He was due in court for a bail hearing on Thursday.
