A 16-year-old boy was killed and at least 16 other partygoers were injured in a mass stabbing attack at a private party in a French rural town — with the perpetrator still at large last Sunday.
The horrific attack happened around 2 a.m. Sunday in the small town of Crépol in southeastern France, where authorities said a group of about 10 knife-wielding thugs forced their way into the private event and carried out a fatal stabbing, local newspaper ACTU17 reported. .
“They came not to have fun but to cause harm,” Crépol mayor Martine Lagut told the outlet.
“These are 16, 17-year-old children from the surrounding villages who are there. Parents have come to pick up their children, but some find themselves in the wrong place at the wrong time,” said Lagut.
“They were going to leave and these guys arrived with knives to attack them.”
The mayor described the event as “a very simple ball with a sound system organized by the village festival committee.”
The slain teenager, a member of the FC Romas-Peage rugby club, was identified only as Thomas in a Facebook post by the team on Sunday.

Two of the victims — a 28-year-old man who was stabbed in the chest and a 23-year-old man who was also slashed — are in critical condition.
