‘Teen Mom’ Star Chelsea DeBoer’s New HGTV Show Called ‘Cringey’ & Cheap

Chelsea DeBoer (formally Houska) may have left her spot on MTV’s “Teen Mom: OG,” but she’s filling that TV void with a new HGTV show.

Chelsea and her husband, Cole DeBoer, are gearing up for the premiere of their new home renovation show, “Down Home Fab.”

HGTV just released a sneak peek trailer for the show on their official Instagram account on Monday, January 9.

Check Out Chelsea DeBoer’s New HGTV Show!

The clip shows Chelsea, Cole and their four children at their South Dakota mansion.

“I would say my style is South Dakota glam,” Chelsea says in the clip.

Both Cole and Chelsea were born and raised in South Dakota so cowhide, horns, black and “anything a little different” is their style.

“Down Home Fab” results from redesigning their own homes and getting feedback on social media.

They have a design business where they show their clients how to take chances and be bold in their designs.

Chelsea & Cole Are Home Renovators Now

Chelsea calls herself a “designer” while Cole calls himself a “project manager.”

MTV fans will remember that the reality TV star rose to fame on “16& Pregnant” after having her first child, Aubree, as a teenager. She has to grow up fast and be a single mom until she meets Cole.

Their first home renovation was for their wedding planner, Jessica.

While the response to HGTV’s Instagram post was overwhelmingly positive, those on Reddit were far more critical of Chelsea’s “South Dakota Glam” style.

“Can’t get half way. They’re doing a reno show: show a house full of target furniture and can’t use any descriptive language for style, materials, patterns, etc. one person is criticized.

Reddit User Tears Chelsea’s Style To Tears!

Another Redditor wrote, “I had to turn the sound off. Too shrill for me. I don’t care for the style without the cowhide/horns/art…”

Yet another commented on the cheapness of the home accessories that Chelsea used to style the house.

“My favorite thing about this house is that no matter what room or hallway you’re in, there are 40 TJ Maxx pillows,” they commented.

Chelsea made the announcement on December 13.

“? We have NEWS: Watch @chelseahouska and @coledeboer #OnHGTV in their new reno series #DownHomeFab, premiering *January 16 at 9|8c* and streaming on @discoveryplus the same day.?,” she wrote on Instagram.

Her fans are absolutely SHOCKED about her and Cole’s return to TV.

“From following them over the years and seeing their own personal style in what they share and whatnot, I think people will really enjoy this series. I look forward to it. The new Chip and Joanna? ?,” wrote a fan.

“Next chip and Joanna ❤️,” another echoed.

On the subtly shaded “Teen Mom” text, “Talk about leveling up!”

This fan brought up a great point about the name of the show, “Not ‘Down Home Deboer??’

But really, why isn’t it named that?

Chelsea originally announced the series in February writing “We can’t wait to take our fans along the next crazy journey of building our business from the ground up — with four kids in tow — showing all the highs and lows on the renovation site and at home, ” Chelsea told fans when announcing the series, then titled “Fabulous Farmhouse.”

The series will show the couple “hooking up.”[ing] their passion builds and designs while helping other couples do the same.”

Since leaving the “Teen Mom” franchise, Houska and Deboer have maintained an active social media presence, particularly on TikTok.

Their four children are often featured in their videos.

Houska left MTV in 2020 after 10 seasons of the show.
