‘Teen Mom’ Jenelle Evans’ husband David Eason has been charged with child abuse involving his 14-year-old son Jace Evans. The charges came just two weeks after the teenager went missing from their home and he was accused of assaulting her.
Evans and Eason were the subject of a child neglect investigation earlier this month after the teenager went missing from home for the third time and reportedly ended up in hospital.
Jenelle Evans’ Husband Accused of Child Abuse
According to reports, Eason was charged with misdemeanor child abuse after Child Protective Services (CPS) and North Carolina’s Columbus County Police became involved because Jace had recently run away from home.

The minor allegedly slipped out the window and ran into the woods in September. Apparently, “visible marks” were seen on his neck and arms when he was found and hospitalized. Police began investigating possible child neglect as it was the third time in a month that Jace had run away from home.
It also didn’t help that the 14-year-old reportedly complained to her grandmother Barbara Evans about being assaulted by Eason. “He [Barbara] advised that he had spoken to him [Jace] early evening when he called from an unknown number and told her about being attacked by David Eason and she ran away and hid,” a police report read.
According to a report, the police department and child protective services have video of the attack involving Jace.
Jace started disappearing from home on August 15th after he was seen leaving school around 2:45pm and did not return home. He was soon declared missing by the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Department but was later located “in a tree behind a school building,” thanks to his location on Snapchat.
Just a week after Jenelle reported her son missing, saying she couldn’t reach him for hours. He was later found at a gas station 10 minutes from their home.
While only Eason has been charged with child abuse for now, it’s possible the “Teen Mom” star herself will also face charges of her own. Nevertheless, throughout the ordeal and the investigation, she publicly defended her husband saying that he was “accused of doing something horrible, horrible that is not true.”

She continued, “David’s like, he’s just taking all these punches, rolling with it, not saying s–t. I don’t blame him, and I feel really bad for him because my kids adore that guy. My kids love that guy so much .”
Jenelle Evans Just Got Full Custody of Jace After 10 Years
The child abuse allegations against Eason don’t bode well for Jenelle who recently gained custody of Jace. The “16 and Pregnant” star, who shares the teen with her high school boyfriend Andrew Lewis, regained full custody of her child in March.
Jace was with his grandmother Barbara for over 10 years before he and Jenelle came to an agreement after decades of fighting. “My mom and I decided together to give full custody back to me because we want to rebuild our relationship as mother and daughter,” Jenelle said in a statement.
He continued, “Besides, my mom agreed it was time for Jace to go back with his siblings and live with mom and dad. He also thinks it’s important for Jace to be around a father figure to learn ‘guy stuff’ and have ‘guy talk.’ He had seen how David parented my son and he knew we could handle it. We want everyone to get along for the sake of the kids and like I said before, rebuild our relationship as mother and daughter.”
The television personality revealed that the custody papers were officially signed on March 16. Remember that Jenelle welcomed Jace when he was just 17 years old and continued to give his mother rights to the child. In addition to Jace, Jenelle also shares daughter Ensley, 7, with Eason, as well as son Kaiser, 9, with ex-boyfriend Nathan Griffith.
The controversial couple is no stranger to being in the news for questionable parenting choices. In 2019, Eason and Jenelle lost custody of all their children after her husband shot and killed their dog after it bit Ensley.
