Eleven firearms – including automatic weapons – were found hidden in food wrappers, board game boxes and walls after an alleged 17-year-old credit card thief was arrested during a drunken birthday party at “Airbnb turned Machinegunbnb,” police said.
A credit card reported stolen from a resident of Shoreview, Minnesota, led to the suspect’s Airbnb, where police said they were “shocked” by the number of weapons found. Police are investigating who is responsible for the weapons hidden there.
The investigation began Friday after a man told police he saw someone break into his work truck and steal his wallet, the Pioneer Press reported.
The man told police he received a charge notification on his stolen credit card less than an hour later – all at Target in Shoreview – between 11:40 a.m. and 12:15 p.m.
His bank card is now $577 short, and an additional transaction totaling $275 has been attempted on other cards in the wallet. A Target purchase led to the suspect, Ramsey County Undersheriff Mike Martin’s office said in a Facebook post.
Surveillance footage compared to surveillance photos from the stolen credit card case from Lino Lakes show that the two cases are connected, according to the local outlet.
Law enforcement released the photos, and members of the sheriff’s Carjacking and Auto Theft Team reportedly recognized the pictured suspect.

The next day, they tracked him down to a “drink-filled” party at an Airbnb on 108th Avenue in the Maple Grove area and contacted the owner, the Pioneer Press reported.
After police alerted him to the situation, the owner reportedly asked police to shut down the festival — the rental agreement’s limit of 10 people had been exceeded, Martin wrote, and rules against weapons and smoking in the rental were apparently violated.
Attendees have also been “posting pictures on social media and smoking,” Martin said.
More than 50 attendees between the ages of 15 and 21 were escorted out of the residence — the person who rented the home was not present, police said, and it was unclear whether the person was a credit card thief.
As they left, attendees were searched for weapons and asked to leave them indoors if they did, according to local outlets – it’s unclear if anyone who went to the party brought one.

Police arrested the suspected credit card thief and deputies then began searching the home. There, they found a plethora of weapons in what Martin called “Airbnb turned Machinegunbnb.”
Several weapons were found in purses and backpacks. One found in “Heads Up!” game box, and another kept in an empty McDonald’s bag on the kitchen counter.

In all, 11 weapons were found – some had extended magazines and “switches,” also known as “auto sears,” that turned them into machine guns “capable of firing 33 automatic rounds in less than two seconds,” per the release .
Ramsey County Sheriff Bob Fletcher said the number of guns was staggering – deputies “always expect a couple, but we were surprised by the number.”

“This is particularly worrying as some party goers are part of ‘groups’ that have enemies – or as they call them, ‘opps’,” Martin wrote.
The undersheriff noted that state and federal law provides for a 5- to 10-year sentence for possession of an automatic weapon — it’s unclear whether the minors involved will be tried as adults, or whether any remain in police custody.
But, according to another post from the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office, the alleged credit card thief “went from a five-star Airbnb stay to the county jail.”
The Ramsey County Undersheriff’s Office could not be reached for comment at press time.
Now, police will test the weapon, enter the resulting data into the National Integrated Ballistics Information Network to determine if it has been used in an unsolved crime, and search for fingerprints and DNA.
“The best part is we got 11 guns off the street that aren’t going to shoot someone, kill someone you know, or be used for a robbery or anything else,” Martin told Law & Crime. Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office/Facebook

Martin wished the alleged credit card thief a happy birthday, according to Law & Crime, and said he was “glad we got to share it with [them.]”
