Terrifying video shows graffiti tagger walking on ledge of abandoned $1B LA skyscraper in downpour

A vertigo-inducing video shows a man braving a nighttime rainstorm to walk along the edge of the 50th floor of an abandoned $1 billion skyscraper in downtown Los Angeles that has become a prime attraction for graffiti markers.

The footage, published Tuesday by GRAFFTV’s Instagram channel, shows the thrill-seeker, identified by the nickname “73ER PEC,” walking around steel beams and stepping onto the building’s outer ledge with no visible safety ropes as rain drenches the city. .

Red and blue graffiti can be seen on the walls of the building as urban climbers, dressed in pink hoodies and jeans, carefully make their way across the facade of the skyscraper, before turning a corner and disappearing from view.

According to an accompanying note by GRAFFTV, which bills itself as “Los Angeles’ Leading Source of Graffiti Culture,” the video was taken on the 50th floor of the towering Oceanwide Plaza complex.

The three-building Oceanwide Plaza property had been touted as a $1 billion luxury apartment and mixed-use commercial hub, but construction on the project stalled in 2019, when the developer ran out of money.

The skyscraper was unfinished for the past five years, before graffiti markers took an interest in it.

Tags have been painted on 27 balconies in the building, according to a video that has gone viral online.
