A Texas dog sitter is accused of killing a Yorkie named Sugar by punching him in the stomach and grabbing him by the neck – because he was “aggressive.”
Benjamin Aguilar, 39, is charged with cruelty to a non-farm animal causing death in connection with the incident at Kanino Dog Grooming in Brownsville on Christmas Eve, ValleyCentral reported.
Gula’s owner told police she dropped the puppy off for a haircut and moments later, Aguilar called to say she passed out.

The owner demanded to see surveillance video, which allegedly showed the sitter hitting the dog in the stomach and grabbing its neck, according to the outlet, which cited Brownsville police.
Aguilar reportedly admitted to officers that he used excessive force and hit the dog because he was aggressive and he was trying to “maintain control,” according to police.
Brownsville Animal Control responded to the scene and reviewed the video.

Aguilar was booked into the City Jail and arraigned on Monday.
He was released on an $8,000 bond.
The owner of Kanino Dog Grooming did not respond to a request for comment by the outlet.
