A Texas man faces manslaughter charges after allegedly killing his passenger in a drunken crash outside Houston before breaking into a nearby home where he crawled into bed and passed out.
Daniel Alexander Rodriguez-Olivares’ 2016 BMW soared over the creek “at a very high rate of speed,” and slid about 500 feet before crashing into the fence of a business Thursday morning around 3 a.m., the Harris County Sheriff’s Office said in a release .
The out-of-control vehicle hit several wooden barriers and fences, eventually falling into a ditch before rolling over, seriously injuring a female passenger, authorities said.
Rodriguez-Olivares then got out of his crushed car and “forced entry into a nearby residence in an attempt to get help,” the statement said.
“I imagine, it’s very scary at 3 in the morning, you hear what sounds like a terrible car crash, then the glass breaks. It can be very traumatic for them,” Harris County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Sgt. B Bondurant said, according to KHOU.

Carlos Suarez told the outlet that he was scared of what sounded like a break-in until he learned there was an accident outside. He said Rodriguez-Olivares screamed for help before passing out on his bed.
”’Help me, Call the police. My wife is dead,’ something like that.” Suarez recalled Rodriguez-Olivares yelling.
When authorities arrived, they found Rodriguez-Olivares unconscious inside the home and his dead female passenger in the wreckage outside.
The suspect was taken to the hospital in critical condition and showed “signs of intoxication,” according to the statement.
Authorities have charged Rodriguez-Olivares with intoxication manslaughter.

Tommy Batterson, whose family business was damaged in the crash, said while speeding was common along the road, he had never seen a collision like this before.
“There was a couple of police chases on the street and everything. It’s a beautiful, crazy area,” Batterson said.
“It’s a little different today when they jump across the whole bayou down there, come from the other side of the cul-de-sac and make it halfway down the block before they hit the fence and everything,” he added.
The crash is still under investigation.
