A Texas father was arrested over the weekend for allegedly leaving his starving children locked in a car while he bar hopped nearby, local police said.
Fabio Aaron Minchala was arrested Saturday after witnesses found his two children — ages two and six — alone in a locked vehicle after they were allegedly seen honking, CBS4 reported, citing El Paso authorities.
When firefighters opened the car, children told firefighters they were hungry, the store added.
Authorities found Minchala at the nearby Ditzy Duck Bar, where she told police she realized her children were in the car and planned to return home soon, CBS4 said.
The father allegedly slurred his words, smelled of alcohol and was unable to maintain his balance, the outlet explained.
Bartenders from two other local watering holes later told police that Minchala had been kicked out of their establishment after he became drunk and aggressive.
Fabio Aaron Minchala was arrested on Saturday.
Minchala filed for divorce from his wife of four years – the mother of his young child – in September, KTSM reported.
The divorce was finalized two days before Minchala was allegedly drunk.
Minchala was charged with two counts of child abandonment with attempted return, and was released Tuesday on $15,000 bond, the outlet added.
The El Paso Police Department did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment on the case.
