The family of a brutally murdered Texas teenager attacked the alleged killer and sparked a massive brawl during a court hearing in San Antonio.
Victor Nathaneal Rivas, 18, was awaiting his appearance for his May 2022 murder trial of 15-year-old Ethan Soto when chaos broke out in the courtroom.
Rivas then gestured to Soto’s grieving relatives in the gallery, according to the San Antonio Express.
One of Soto’s brothers jumped a fence and began beating the accused killer before the other three joined in the fight that lasted more than 30 seconds.
The fight broke out in front of a bench full of other inmates when two court bailiffs rushed in to break up the fight, video obtained by KSAT showed.
Court officials cleared the gallery and removed the inmates from the courtroom as the Soto and Rivas families were separated.
Rivas only suffered minor injuries.
“He’s going to be bruised and swollen,” Rivas’ attorney, Adam La Hood, told the San Antonio Express.

Four brothers – two men and two teenagers – were arrested and charged with assault and interfering with court proceedings.
Rivas is accused of killing Soto as an act of revenge when the younger teenager allegedly robbed Rivas of THC cartridges, according to KSAT citing an arrest affidavit.
Rivas, enraged by the robbery, allegedly opened fire on the home of Soto and his family, but the 15-year-old was not injured in the shooting.

In an effort to calm things down between the teenagers, Soto’s mother met with Rivas to pay for the stolen cartridges, an interaction Rivas has denied, according to the TV station.
Rivas then contacted a minor girl on Instagram and asked her to make a drug deal with Soto and “stated several times that he was looking for the person who robbed him and would ‘catch’ him when he saw him,” the affidavit stated.
The girl and Soto arranged a meeting for a drug deal involving stolen cartridges before Soto was ambushed by Rivas, the outlet said.
Soto was shot several times and rushed to the hospital where he later died.

Last week, another brawl broke out in a Texas courtroom when an accused murderer also signaled to his victim’s family.
Frank DeLeon Jr. reportedly laughed at the mother of his alleged murder victim, ex-girlfriend Diamond Alvarez, when she gave her testimony.
Alvarez’s mother, Anna Machado, exited the stand and headed toward DeLeon before being stopped by the bailiff, prompting Alvarez’s uncle to rush over and punch the defendant.
