Yeezy founder Kanye West and his “wife,” Bianca Censori, have been seen walking barefoot around Italy several times. Now Jason Lee, podcast host and West’s former media chief, claims the rapper did it for publicity and to show his “power.”
West recently made his musical comeback with an appearance at the Travis Scott concert in Rome. The two rappers performed their hit songs together, “Praise God” and “Can’t Tell Me Nothing.”
He has been working to revive his Yeezy brand since his fallout with Adidas over his antisemitism controversy, which saw him lose his billionaire status.

Kanye West and his “wife,” Bianca Censori, made a statement in Rome barefoot. The pair were photographed on several trips around Italy, including gelato dates, hotel dinners, and concerts, and were barefoot at all appearances. Censors wear tight and tight clothing at their various events.

Jason Lee, former head of media and partnerships for West and his Yeezy brand, spoke with him Page Six about West’s surprising decision to go barefoot. The “Hollywood Unlocked” host shared that she’s sure the couple walked barefoot to push a point and for a PR stunt.
He said, “I think the fact that people are talking about Kanye’s feet shows how much power he still has in the wake of the culture of cancelling. I think it’s a smart and strategic move. I wouldn’t be surprised if the next time we see shoes on his feet it will be a project he designed.”

Lee wasn’t the only one commenting on West’s recent decision to go barefoot. follow Page Six, during a “Saturday Night Live” monologue in November 2022, comedian Dave Chappelle made a joke about it. He said he didn’t want an offer of shoes or sneakers “because as soon as I said something that made the person angry, they would take my shoes.”
He added, “Now you see Kanye walking around LA barefoot … This guy lost a billion and a half dollars in a day.” Chappelle referenced West losing Yeezy’s deal with Adidas after his anti-Semitic controversy, in which he tweeted about “3 deaths against Jews.” He also displayed “White Lives Matter” T-shirts at a Paris fashion show and said the Black Lives Matter movement was a sham.
West’s various controversies caused him to lose other partnerships with Gap and Balenciaga. He was also banned from various social media platforms, the Creative Artist Agency, and lost his Soho House membership. These are just some of the heavy consequences of his anti-Semitic remarks and refusal to apologize or back down.

During his visit to Rome with Censori, West appeared for the first time since last year’s controversy. He appeared on stage with Travis Scott at his concert and performed two songs.
Scott introduced the “Praise God” rapper, saying, “Only one human being on this mother planet has ever walked with me through anything and everything mother.”
West and Scott performed “Praise God” from the “Donda” Album and “Can’t Tell Me Nothing” from the “Graduation” album. Scott also told the audience that there is no “Utopia without Kanye West,” “No Travis Scott without Kanye West,” and “No Rome without Kanye West.”
