The Ashley Madison Affair, a Hulu documentary, will finally be released on July 7, 2023. Wall to Wall Media and ABC News Studios partnered to develop this documentary based on a compelling exposé that thoroughly examines the events that led to the data leak in Ashley Madison’s servers.
According to the IMDb summary for The Ashley Madison Affair:
“Ashley Madison is a popular site, attracting millions of would-be adulterers from around the world.” However, when staff at the Toronto headquarters logged on to their computers one July morning in 2015, a warning appeared: “Close Ashley Madison immediately (or) we will remove all customer records, profiles, sexual fantasies… names and real address.”
It continues,
“As Ashley Madison’s owners prepare to launch the firm in a multi-billion dollar IPO, they refuse to comply with the demands of the “Impact Team.” Thirty days later, the Impact Team followed through on their threat, releasing approximately 10 terabytes of user information into the dark web, with dire implications for those who had signed up to the site, from suicide to blackmail to public humiliation.”
The series was created by Beth Hoppe of ABC News Studios and Fred Hepburn and Jeremy Dear of Wall to Wall Media. The Hulu series attempts to shed light on the most significant data breaches and their consequences to date. As of February 2019, this website is used by 60 million people from 53 countries.
Ashley Madison Scandal – Exposing the Scandal
The Ashley Madison data breach in 2015 sent shockwaves around the world, exposing the personal information of millions of users worldwide. The material exposed was sensitive in a way that could, and ultimately did, ruin human lives because the Ashley Madison website allowed users to engage in extramarital affairs.
The Ashley Madison Agency website was founded in Canada in 2002, and its services are marketed with the phrase,
“Life is short. Make a connection.”
A data breach exposes personal information about users, such as email, name, home address, fetish and financial information. This issue arises when it is found that the user base has a high number of fake accounts that are set up fraudulently, with wrong email addresses or with malicious intent. A few customers have also paid the $19 price to remove their accounts. Unfortunately, their information was also included in the stolen data. Needless to say, Hulu is ready to dive deep into the Ashley Madison saga, giving an up close and personal look at the controversy and its aftermath.
