“The Daily Show” may find it difficult to replace its current host after he leaves.
South African-born comedian Trevor Noah, who has hosted the show for the past seven years, recently shocked his fans when he announced his departure. The hit show doesn’t seem to have an immediate replacement but is mulling other acts.

The show, under Comedy Central, is not looking for a permanent replacement after Noah. Instead, they thought of making a host rotation instead. While this alleged rotation has yet to be decided, it is scheduled to take place after they return from their break after he left in December.
The hold is meant to reinvent the show and won’t resume until January 2023. As sources told the publication, the 38-year-old’s announcement to step down from the show came as a surprise to many producers and executives involved with the show.
That means the network hasn’t had time to properly consider the direction of the show without him. They faced a similar dilemma in 2015 when Noah’s previous host, Jon Stewart, suddenly announced that he intended to step down that same year. The difference is that Comedy Central has had enough time to plan a replacement.
So far, the company has declined to allow executives to comment, although, in a statement they released, it said, “In time, we will move on to the next chapter of “The Daily Show,” and all of our extraordinary correspondents will be on the on that list. Until then, we’re focused on celebrating Trevor and thanking him for his many contributions.”
Per Variety, their delay in choosing a replacement hasn’t stopped speculation about who it might be, with some names such as correspondent Roy Wood Jr., contributor Jordan Klepper or entertainers Desi Lydic and Ronny Chieng emerging.
These names all contributed in one way or another to the show, which is why they are at the forefront of consideration. TV networks usually hide replacements; however, most test new candidates openly. Central may follow in the footsteps of Fox News Channel, which likes to rotate its hosts after the main anchor or co-host leaves.
As reported by The Blast, Noah’s last appearance on the show will be on December eight, which will feature some of his best moments on the comedy show.
Trevor Noah Explains The Reasons For His Surprise Announcement
The “Isidingo” guest star may have announced her exit from “The Daily Show” too early, but it seems she had a good reason behind it. He seemed to have his fans in mind when confirming the news, The Blast reports.
In a video clip shared on the show’s Instagram page, the “Coming 2 America” star explained her reasons for leaving early to a sad audience. In true comedic fashion, the writer of “Born A Slave” compared his situation to a happy funeral where people would celebrate him while he was in a coffin but still alive, which caused the entire audience to laugh.
Noah said that he doesn’t believe there is such a thing as “goodbye”, and he realizes how important the transition is for his successor. He later acknowledged his colleagues and those behind the scenes who helped bring his vision to life. Adding, “So it’s a big process, and that’s why I’m telling you that I’m leaving so it’s not like an Irish goodbye.”
The actress explained that rather than showing up for a moment, saying goodbye to them, and then disappearing, she prefers that they be informed on time and prepared. He then said, “So the goal is, you know none of us are left in a place where we feel like it’s a moment or we feel like it’s a surprise.”
The radio host also said that he believes that the joy in anything is knowing the best way to do it, and he hopes that his audience will continue to watch even if he is not there.
Noah later stated that he was excited to experience the world on a more accessible scale and hoped to “live a little more, express a little more, grow a little more, and try new things.”
