The cause of Kiely Rodni’s death has been revealed.
The 16-year-old disappeared in August after attending a party at the Prosser Family Campground near Lake Tahoe, California.
Almost 300 people attended from teenagers to those in their late 20s.
He was last seen around 12:30 a.m. on August 6. At the time of his disappearance, Kiely was driving a silver 2015 Honda CRV.

The body of the missing teenager was found in a car at the bottom of a California lake.
On Sunday, August 21, law enforcement officials found a body inside a submerged silver car in Prosser Lake.
On Monday, August 22, a press conference with law enforcement officials was held, and they informed the public that the body found was “most likely” Rodni’s.
Unfortunately, just a day later, the body found in the silver vehicle was confirmed to be Rodni’s.
He was found by the team of the YouTube diving group, Adventures with Purpose.

Kiely’s death was Accidental Drowning
His official cause of death was determined to be accidental drowning in his vehicle after it was driven into a lake.
The Nevada County Sheriff’s Office released the autopsy on October 13. It states, “descendant drowned in the lake while in his vehicle.”
There were no signs of foul play in Rodni’s death.
According to the toxicology report, he had THC and ethanol in his system; however, ethanol can be a product of decomposition.
The official Twitter account for the Placer Sheriff’s department issued a tweet on August 23rd.
“Today an autopsy was conducted on the deceased individual who was found at Prosser Pond on Sunday, August 21. The Nevada County Sheriff-Coroner has identified the deceased as 16-year-old Kiely Rodni of Truckee,” the tweet said.

The tweet continued, “The Placer County Sheriff’s Office and the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office are in communication with the Kiely family and offer their deepest condolences during this extremely difficult time. This is an ongoing investigation, and no other information is available at this time.”
“Kiely” started trending on Twitter after news of his body being identified spread.
News Nation’s Brian Entin tweeted, “Sorry Kiely Rodni family. Glad to see Adventures with Purpose getting some recognition for the work they’ve been doing over the years. They have sonar and technology law enforcement does not have.
Another wrote, “For all the people who judge #KielyRodney and his friends, look back when you were that age. I know I’m 100% guilty of making the wrong choices, and I’m lucky enough to still be here. Let’s not judge, spread hate, and conspiracy theories. Pay respects to the Kiely family.”
“I’m so disappointed that Kiely’s death has been overshadowed by so much hate & hurt… around the world. It’s disgusting. I wish the internet had a reset button. MAKE EVERYONE BETTER. Recalibrate your moral compass… use this to learn to be a better person,” wrote another defender of Rodni and his family.”
