The Post tried eating at NYC’s finest restaurants dressed like Sen. John Fetterman — see how it went

Sen. John Fetterman may be allowed to dress like a slob in the halls of power — but it’s still a big mistake at New York City’s finest restaurant.

Intrepid Post reporter Jon Levine learned the harsh truth this week when he walked across the Big Apple’s culinary landmark wearing Fetterman’s trademark hoodie, gym shorts and sneakers and tried to get in — only to be met with jeers and jeers from maître d’s saner than Congress .

“He wouldn’t be allowed here,” sniffed a waiter at Daniel on the Upper East Side, where a seven-course tasting menu costs $275.

He admitted he didn’t know who Fetterman was.

“We have turned away guests for being dressed improperly regardless of their occupation,” he continued.

At the famed Le Bernardin, a suited maitre d named Julien was serving up an eye-popping meal when The Post arrived.

“No sportswear,” he said flatly, staring at The Post and denying even a hint of chef Eric Ripert’s $480 dinner and wine pre-fix menu.

The three-Michelin-starred dining room is reservations-only but the lobby is usually given over to a more casual lounge — but not if you’re dressed like you’ve just come from a Pilates class.

Le Bernardin’s wine director, Aldo Sohm, said jackets and trousers are on loan to those with Fetterman’s fashion sense.

At the two-Michelin-starred Jean-Georges near Columbus Circle, no fewer than four guards outside his dining room vetoed The Post’s entry, ending the dream of dining on the famous $368, 10-course tasting menu that included caviar salad, king crab and smoked squab.

“Inside we don’t allow shorts,” said one, repeatedly insisting it was “impossible” to comply with the dress code, which also prohibits jeans, shoes and sweaters.

“It doesn’t matter if it’s Lady Gaga,” added another.

A third was so stunned by the immodest clothing, he couldn’t finish his sentence.

“I’ve never had anyone come dressed like …”

Workers at The Grill — the ultra-luxury chop house that occupies the space of the legendary Four Seasons Restaurant downtown — wasted no time rejecting the fake Fetterman, slamming the door shut after they caught a glimpse.

“If you go and get a pair of jeans, it’ll work,” offered a swaggering doorman named Don, “We treat millionaires like millionaires.”

That’s not all bad news for Fetterman.

The Post walked into Nobu and Gramercy Tavern without looking.

The senator is “absolutely” welcome at Eleven Madison Park in all his full, frivolous glory, a masked employee said.

The three-star Michelin eatery, whose nine-course all-vegetarian tasting menu costs $365, says there is no evening dress expectation.

“You can wear anything. You just have to wear clothes.”

Poor Fetterman’s sartorial misdeeds had his congressional colleagues in stitches.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) ripped the Senate for recently loosening rules to allow Fetterman’s wardrobe, which she insists she needs for her mental health after a stroke, Democratic Senate insiders said.

“The Senate no longer enforcing a dress code for senators to appease Fetterman is a shame,” Greene said on X, formerly Twitter.

“The dress code is one of the community standards that set ethics and respect for our institutions. Stop lowering the bar!”

This brings us to King Cole Bar in St. The magnificent Regis Hotel — they also rejected The Post.
