In one post, she shared a loving photo of her hugging her father, who planted a kiss on his head as they gave the camera a peace sign. In the first part of the accompanying caption, the “Sextuplets” star reflected on how his father inspired him to be a man, noting that his father would always answer “just a man” whenever he asked him what he wanted.

In addition, he stated, “My father said, ‘A man takes care of himself and his responsibilities. His family always comes FIRST.’ From that day on, I wanted to be a MAN.”

He thanked his father for being a role model for his son, writing, “I pray all black boys grow up to be Men like you.” Finally, he ends his caption with a shout out to his late mother and a toast to his father, saying that he knows where to find his father if he needs him – in his Bible that now sits by his bed.

The doting son posted another tribute showing his dad sitting with a tall glass of wine in front of him. The upload was captioned, “My man 50 grand. Every time I take a sip of good wine, I will think of you.”

Marlon’s tribute was followed by his sister Deidra Wayans who began her emotional message, writing, “My Heart is Heavy,” before expressing how grateful she was to have “so many years of love and memories” with great parents and great siblings.

She realizes how difficult she is to deal with but thanks her parents’ tough love, discipline, and devotion for making her the remarkable woman her mother is. Also, Deidre’s son Craig Wayans was not left behind as he paid tribute to his grandfather, saying that he has a firm seat next to Jehovah and that God has gained another strong soldier.

TMZ first broke the news of Howell Wayans’ death, revealing that Marlon learned of his father’s death during a show in Burbank, CA. Reportedly, he was scheduled for two different stand-up comedy shows at a club called Flappers and was already done with his first set when he was notified.

However, the “Little Man” actor decided to continue with his second performance, where he incorporated the tragic event into his comedic material. The star comedian shared his father’s death with his audience at the end, and he was met with thunderous applause and tears.

Howell, who built the foundation for his children’s success, was also a father figure to many other African American actors in the industry. Actor Omar Epps is one of those who felt the impact of the late patriarch, and his pain is vividly reflected in his tribute.

Epps, known for her roles in “Love & Basketball,” “House,” among others, shared a sweet photo of the late industry giant with touching words that began, “Words can’t describe how I feel. now. This man is a giant among giants. Pop Wayans was a real father to me my whole life.”

He continued, “Always taught me, gave me gems that I live by to this day. I love you, Pop! Thank you for taking me under your wing as if I were your own. We are all broken, yet somehow, you prepared us for this moment.” Epps concluded, expressing his love for the late icon.

Ten children and several grandchildren survive Howell. His wife, Elvira, died in July 2020 at the age of 81.
