“The doctor said my voice is safe and with rest I will be solid and able to bring the performance that my TORONTO fans are waiting for,” he wrote. “The LA date is being worked out soon. thank you so much for all the love and understanding that comes my way. I love you all so much… XO.”

The 32-year-old singer, born Abel Tesfaye, took to Instagram on the night of the show to apologize to his fans in a short message shared on his Instagram Stories.

“My voice went out during the first song and I was devastated,” he wrote. “Feel it go and my heart drops. I deeply apologize to my fans here. I promise I will make up for it with a new date.”
