Comedian and writer Barry Cryer married his wife Theresa Margaret ‘Terry’ Donovan in 1962 in Bristol, England. They live together in Hatch End, the Middlesex house they bought together in 1967 for £10,400. They remained married until Barry’s death at the age of 86 on January 25, 2022. So, until his death, they lived happily ever after for 60 years.
Barry reportedly met his wife Theresa while rehearsing for Danny La Rue’s show at Winston’s Nightclub on the same day he first met Ronnie Corbett. He then “tossed a coin and decided to marry her”.
According to Reader’s Digest, Barry once shared, “It was during rehearsals at Danny La Rue’s nightclub not far from the Windmill. He is a singer and dancer and I was fascinated from the first time I saw him standing by the piano.”

Barry has discussed his relationship once with MailOnline. “The key is that we never understand each other; we don’t row but we argue all the time. I once said to him, ‘We don’t agree on everything,’ and he said, ‘No, we don’t!’”
Barry has declared that his marriage cured his eczema. Before Terry, he was hospitalized 12 times in eight years. He revealed, “When Terry first met me, I was wearing dark glasses and a coat buttoned up to my chin. He thought, Oh God! Who is this? He looks a little strange. But I was just in the hospital with him again after meeting him. Not a coincidence, I think.”
