Career
Timo started his professional ice hockey career in 2012 as a youth player with the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers of the Elite Jr. league. The Halifax Mooseheads selected him 12th overall in the 2013 CHL Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) Import Draft that same year. He was selected as the captain of the Mooseheads for the 2015-16 QMJHL season. He was a member of the club until the 2015-2016 season. Meier was transferred to the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies on January 6, 2016.
On July 8, 2015, Timo was signed by the San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League (NHL). The San Jose Sharks selected him ninth overall in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. He agreed to a three-year entry-level deal with the club. Timo made his NHL debut with the San Jose Sharks against the Montreal Canadiens on December 16, 2016, during the 2016–17 season. Timo made his WJC18 debut for the Swiss Under-18 Team in 2013, finishing sixth in the tournament. He has represented his country several times. He is still a member of the San Jose Sharks.
