Turner had been struggling with problems with his kidneys for years, which may have led to his death at the age of 83. The singer revealed in March that his deteriorating kidney health was linked to hypertension, which he was diagnosed with in 1978.

He admitted to being negligent in managing his heart disease which eventually caused his kidneys to suffer as a result of his actions.

“Show your kidneys love! They deserve it. My kidneys are victims of me not realizing that my high blood pressure should be treated with conventional medicine,” Turner opened up about his health issues in conjunction with World Kidney Day.

She added, “I have put myself in great danger by refusing to face the reality that I need daily, lifelong therapy with medication. For too long, I have believed that my body is an untouchable and indestructible fortress.”

A month ago, Turner revealed in an interview with Caretaker, that she wants to be remembered for her impact as the “Queen of Rock’ n’ Roll” and as an inspiration to other women who want to “strive for success in their own way.”

He also revealed at the time that he wasn’t afraid of death, saying he was ready to “accept and embrace each day with what it brings.”

His evergreen songs, for which he is best known, include “What’s Love Got To Do With It,” “The Best,” “River Deep, Mountain High,” “Proud Mary” and “Nutbush City Limits.”

During his career, he earned 12 Grammy awards and was twice inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

He also had some impact in the film industry through the award-winning musical based on his life, which was released in 2019.

Fans at the time thanked Turner for sharing her story on World Kidney Day, not realizing the singer would pass away in a few months.

His death was announced on his official Instagram account on Wednesday, along with a black-and-white photo.

“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tina Turner,” read the post, which also noted how the late singer “enchanted millions of fans around the world and inspired the stars of tomorrow.”

The post also stated that Turner’s music will remain a “legacy” that will never be forgotten.

In November 2019, Turner made her last public appearance at the Broadway debut of a musical based on her life. She will be buried in a private ceremony attended by close friends and family and is survived by her second husband of 67 years, Erwin Bach, and two of her four children.

Since his death, Turner has received tributes from several celebrities, including Hollywood’s biggest stars. Mariah Carey was one of the many to mourn the late singer, sharing a throwback photo of Turner on social media.
