Toby Keith Funeral: Plans Revealed For Private & Public Memorial

Toby Keith’s family has organized a celebration of life for the country icon.

Following the death of the “Red Solo Cup” singer, whose full name is Toby Keith Covel, his family revealed plans for an upcoming memorial service in a recent social media post.

Toby Keith’s Family Announces Funeral Plans

A week after the country singer died, his family decided to honor him with two memorial services.

Toby Keith, winner of Favorite Male Country Artist and Favorite Country Album, at the 32nd Annual American Music Awards held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California,MEGA

Alongside a close-up of the late country artist wearing a cowboy hat, blue shirt and a big smile, they shared details about his funeral plans in an Instagram caption:

“The Covel family organized a private funeral service for the family, band and crew only in mid-February. A memorial service in Toby’s honor will be announced only on Keith’s social media shortly.”

They also informed their followers and fans that instead of sending flowers, they would appreciate a “donation to @tkfoundation1 to support OK Kids Korral.” The Instagram update gave fans a chance to mourn the country music icon and express their sadness in the comments section.

One grieving social media user wrote, “Life is not fair. Yep. I have said Why does the good always have to go? He and your family have been in my and my family’s hearts, thoughts, and prayers.”

A second person explained at length, “Toby Keith’s death really brought me to my knees. My heart is so broken. Totally unexpected. I can only imagine how his family, band members and close friends feel. If there is a loss I don’t understand this one. RIP Toby.”

Another Internet user wrote, “He means so much to military families and patriots in America. We will miss him. Prayers are offered for his family, friends and band,” while a fourth confirmed, “I am very saddened by Toby’s passing. I watched him during his career, and I love all his music. I have all his songs and some of his videos.”

Meanwhile, an Instagram follower who had the idea stated, “He deserves a concert tribute by many artists .. aired on television. He is loved by many people. He loves his country and his fans.

Keith died tragically on February 5th after a battle with stomach cancer. Her fans first became aware of her cancer diagnosis when she opened up in 2022, saying:

“Last fall, I was diagnosed with stomach cancer. I have spent the last 6 months receiving chemo, radiation and surgery. So far, so good. I need time to breathe, recover, and rest. I can’t wait to spend time with my family. But I will see the fans soon. I can not wait.”

During that period, the “I Wanna Talk About Me” singer postponed all of her shows, as her publicist revealed that she would not be participating in any shows while undergoing treatment.

Keith’s Son Praises Him For Being ‘The Personification Of The American Spirit’

Details of Keith’s funeral came days after his son, Stelen Covel, poured his heart out as he mourned his father in a touching tribute. She chose a throwback shot featuring a younger version of her and her dad in a pool for the message.

“You are the strongest man I have ever known. A fighter. A true titan of your industry. My guiding star. My coach. My hero. The Embodiment of the American Spirit. You are a man whose strength, prowess and talent can only be surpassed by his ability to be a father and a husband,” the 27-year-old captioned it.

Covel revealed that while the 62-year-old’s “impact” is “forever stamped on the world and millions of people,” no one knows him “like I know him.”

He fondly refers to his father as his “greatest champion,” his “guiding light” in his “darkest hour,” and “the best mentor a man could ask for” before adding:

“You have a spirit bigger than a mountain and it shines through every lyric and chord.”

The co-owner of Tequila Chulos concluded the boring message, “The only thing I really want in life is to make you proud. I promise I will continue to make you proud. It’s not goodbye forever; that’s just goodbye for now. I love you, cowboy.”
