Todd Chrisley Opens Up About Lengthy ‘Estrangement’ From Daughter Lindsie

TV personality Todd Chrisley tells all about his daughter Lindsie Chrisley’s estrangement from her family.

In 2017, Lindsie fell out with her family and stopped appearing on the family reality series “Chrisley Knows Best.” The 33-year-old later publicly stated that he had no plans to reconcile with his family. However, he was seen publicly supporting his parents, Todd and Julie, after they were convicted of federal charges of bank fraud and tax evasion, suggesting that the family is on the road to reconciliation.

On PodcastOne’s “Chrisley Confession” (via Many people), Todd and the rest of his family discuss Lindsie’s estrangement and its effect on their relationship.

In a new episode of PodcastOne’s “Chrisley Confessions,” Lindsie, 33, as well as her parents, Todd and Julie, and sister Savannah, detail their “family feud,” which was making headlines at the time. Todd pointedly stated that he was not prepared for Lindsie’s “estrangement” from the family, which was caused by the fight.

“But I’ll tell you now, looking back, we needed this separation,” Todd said on the episode, per Many people. “Because there’s no way I would be where I am today if I hadn’t — really, if [Lindsie] not forcing isolation by leaving Chrisley Knows Best and cutting off communication.”

Lindsie left the family reality show in 2017 after a huge fight with her parents. His decision to leave had a huge emotional impact on the family at the time. However, Todd’s revelation of the family needing to be separated suggests that they may have spent time working out their differences.

He added: “I don’t know how to function without talking to you all every day of my life, 100 times a day, knowing every move you make,”

Todd said the whole situation is “getting weird,” even though he believes the lockdown is important. Lindsie responded by claiming she agreed with her father’s argument and “would” hear more about her family if she could go back in time.

“This all had to happen,” Todd added, referencing how the family all grew during that time, before adding how the separation helped the family bond better later.

Todd told Lindsie: “You and I, I don’t believe, would be where we are today without a breakup.” The family reconciliation comes after Todd and Julie were convicted in June of this year of conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to commit bank fraud, and wire and tax fraud.

At the time, Lindsie offered her support to her parents during an episode of the Coffee Convos podcast amid the ongoing trial.

“I’m also going to go on record today and say that I love my parents, I love my siblings, I love my grandmother,” he said on the show in June, per Many people. “And what the future of our relationship is at this point, I’m not going to discuss more than that at this point, other than the fact that I love them and I stand with them. And I will continue to stand with them through the good, the bad, and the ugly.”

Since the ruling, Todd and Julie have filed a joint motion to request a new trial. In the meantime, the court has scheduled their sentencing on November 21.

The reality television series “Chrisley Knows Best” on the USA Network helped the Chrisley family gain fame. It debuted on March 11, 2014, and has since spanned nine seasons, with the latest premiering on August 12, 2021.

The show follows the lives of real estate mogul Georgia Todd and his family, which includes Julie, Lindsie, Savannah, and Chase Chrisley. A spin-off centered on Chase and Savannah Chrisley called “Growing Up Chrisley” debuted in 2019.

Following Todd and Julie’s guilty verdicts for bank fraud and tax evasion, it is unclear whether their reality series will be renewed for a tenth season as the charges against them carry a maximum sentence of 30 years. The couple have been very open about their struggles since the guilty verdict and have asked fans who reached out to help keep them in prayer.
