Tom Dees is a journalist who has worked in the news industry since 1988. He graduated from Mississippi State University in 1987, understands Spanish and English, and worked for Fox18 for many years.

Ally Dees, Tom Dees’ eldest daughter, stated in the about section of the GoFundMe page that the money was being raised while Tom was in the hospital being treated for severe and potentially fatal lung disease.

When asked about her difficulties, Ally stated:
“Tom was admitted to hospital last week after struggling to breathe and is now fighting for his life. He has Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF). IPF is a rare lung disease, but it is not unusual in our family. His father (my grandfather), a veteran United States Air Force Navigator, died of this cancer 8 months ago, in April 2022.”
He also said that his father, Tom, will not be able to work, which is why the family is looking for more help. As of this writing, the GoFundMe campaign has raised more than $35,000 from 470 donors. At the same time, the reporter earned other media recognition, including the title of 983 Louisiana 12AAAA State Cross Country Champion. He is also almost a three-time Emmy Award winner.
