Hanks went on to state that the main reason for the casting was Truman’s resemblance to him, and the 27-year-old realized how much pressure the role brought. “I know what it takes, and so does he. It’s a little different when it’s the whole shebang,” the actor said.
He continued, “He was cast for a very specific reason. We resemble each other, he’s not a stranger, and he knows what the pressure is, and he has to do it.”
Further, Banks explained some hard truths as an actress and how she still wasn’t sure about her performance in the film until its release. “The thing we both know is … you never know if you’re doing a good job,” the star said.
“All you can do is wait for that very surreal moment when you see the movie, and it’s like, ‘That’s it.’ It will last forever. Even so, I don’t think you have any idea if it works or not.”

Truman, at the end, discussed his experience on set with Hanks and how he was able to nail his performance. The 27-year-old revealed that over the past few years, he and Hanks’ other children have been practicing and mastering the art of imitating their father.
Truman explained, “Every time I imitated him, people would say, ‘That’s not what it sounds like.’ But I have to tell you how I heard it. Everybody hears, ‘Houston, we’ve got a problem’; I heard this grumpy old man who was mad at the DVD player.”
In addition to “A Man Called Otto,” Truman has starred in several other titles such as “Black Widow,” “News of the World,” “Wrath of Man,” and others.
Tom Hanks Says Acting Is ‘The Family Business’
In response to the topic of Hollywood nepotism that became the subject of discussion at the end of 2022, Hanks called acting a “family business.” While talking to Reuters through Sun, the actor said, “This is what we’ve been doing forever. That’s what all our children grew up with. We have four kids — they’re all very creative, they’re all involved in some brand of storytelling.”
Hanks continues, “And if we’re a plumbing supply business or if we’re running a flower shop down the street, the whole family will spend time at some point, even if it’s just inventory at the end of the year.”
The “Forrest Gump” actor, however, insists that no matter what one’s last name is, they have to put in the work necessary to succeed.
