The son of a top Hollywood agent caught over a woman’s torso found in a dumpster allegedly tried to hire a group of day laborers to remove the brutal evidence from his suburban home — telling them the “twist” they found inside was just a Halloween prop.
“I started seeing parts of the body, the navel,” one of the workers, who did not want to be identified, told NBC4 in Spanish.
Samuel Haskell IV, 35, reportedly paid workers $500 to haul three large bags of trash out of the garage of his Tarzana home on Tuesday – just a day before the dismembered body was found in a shopping center dumpster, they said.
Haskell – the son of a powerful Hollywood executive who previously represented megastars George Clooney, Dolly Parton and Whoopi Goldberg – allegedly told workers the bag was filled with rocks, but the group soon realized the contents were more sinister.
They accepted the money and drove several blocks away to inspect the bags, which they described as soft and wet, weighing about 50 pounds each.
“I was surprised. Of course, I feel bad. We have been cheated,” said the laborer.
The employee said they drove back to Haskell’s house and dropped the bag back in his driveway, telling him they didn’t want his money or involvement.

Haskell allegedly tried to remove the body part as a Halloween prop, but the man could not be persuaded to participate in his dirty work.
They claim they immediately tried to report the strange crime to two separate police stations, but were rebuffed.
That same night, construction workers told police they saw what appeared to be a body in a black bag near Haskell’s home, but when officers arrived, the bag was gone.

A homeless man looking for recyclables found the torso about five miles from Haskell’s home the next morning and he was arrested on one count of murder four hours later.
Investigators said there were no obvious identifying marks on the torso such as tattoos.
But they believe it may have belonged to Haskell’s missing wife May and estimate it hasn’t been there for more than a few days.

Mei Haskell and her parents – mother Yanxiang Wang and father Gaoshen Li – had been reported missing before the gruesome discovery.
Haskell was arrested after investigators found a large amount of blood and other evidence inside his home that suggested a murder scene.
The couple’s three children were found safe at school and handed over to the Department of Children and Family Services.
Haskell, who lists himself as a director and posts several low-budget video clips online, has a history of violence.
He was arrested and charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon in December 2008, to which he pleaded no contest to battery and was placed on three years’ probation in 2010.
