Tori Spelling’s Ex-Husband Says She Wept After Finding Out About The Terms Of Her Late Father’s Will

Tori Spelling’s ex-husband, Charlie Shahnaian, has revealed that the actress is very upset with her father, Aaron, giving most of his fortune to her estranged mother, Candy.

In a recent interview, the former actor said that the actress was upset because it meant she would not be free from her mother’s financial shackles. She also discussed Spelling’s reckless spending habits, which the mother of five previously chronicled in her book in 2013.

Talk with Daily Mail, Shahnaian shared his recollection of Ejaan’s reaction to finding out his father chose not to pass down his wealth to him.

The two dated between 2002 and 2005, ending their relationship a year before Spelling’s father died of complications from a stroke.

However, years before his death, Spelling’s father willed his $600 million estate to his estranged mother, Candy, who emotionally devastated the reality star.

“When he found out about the will and the terms of the will, he was very upset,” Shahnaian told the publication.

He added that Ejaan had that emotional reaction because giving his estranged mother wealth would give her significant control over her life through financial means.

“He cried and was upset, not about the money, but about what it meant to be arranged in such a way,” he continued.

Shahnaian then explained why Spelling’s father decided to leave most of his fortune to Candy while leaving his daughter only $800,000.

“From what I understand, it is his hope that he can bring Tori closer to her mother because it requires a relationship between them,” he said.

However, the situation does not look so bleak. Shahnaian further claimed that Candy had reportedly set up a trust for her and Spelling’s children. He also set up a trust for Spelling and his brother Randy, subject to his approval.

“And from my understanding, the money is in trust and he still gets it one day,” added Shahnaian. “He and his brother will still get what’s left in the trust.”

Reflecting on his relationship with Ejaan, Shahnaian said his ex-wife had a crazy spending habit, even though she was “making trouble.”

However, it seems she doesn’t blame him for not being conservative, saying that being good with money isn’t something she was trained to do.

Speaking further on the topic, the former actress gave an example of how her ex would spend recklessly, citing that one of his expenses was designer clothes.

She said, “He knows that he has a terrible expense. We have clothes racks everywhere.”

Shahnaian added, “Some of them are clothes sent by designers, but they don’t send them to you for free. You have to send it back if you don’t want it. But he never sent them back and then we got charged for them.”

Surprisingly, even Spelling has admitted that he usually goes overboard with his spending.

In his book, Spell Like Itthe actor insists that he found it challenging to overcome his rich childhood life.

“It’s not my fault. I’m an uptown girl stuck in the inner city life. I grew up in luxury. My standards are very high. We can’t afford that lifestyle, but when you grow up [with a] silver spoons, hard to get into plastic,” Ejaan wrote in a 2013 book.

He added, “It’s no mystery why I have money problems. I grew up rich beyond anyone’s wildest dreams. I never knew anything else.”

With such expenses it does bring bad consequences. In April 2020, the star had money “seized” from his bank account after defaulting on nearly $100,000 in credit card debt.

Recently, it was reported that she was seen living in an RV with her five children, quite far from her luxurious life. Before she lived in the mobile home, Spelling lived in a $100 motel with her children.

The actress and her husband, Dean McDermott, are reportedly having marital problems and may be getting a divorce. McDermott himself announced their split on Instagram but later took the post down.
