Tory Lanez made a big mistake during his trial, at least according to his attorney now.
The rap star has teamed up with famous lawyer Jose Baez.

You may recognize the name from the Casey Anthony trial. She fought for Anthony during his murder trial in 2011.
Baez secured Anthony’s acquittal for killing his daughter, Caylee Anthony.
She recently appeared on “TMZ Live,” and explained that Lanez should have contacted her sooner.
As you may recall, Lanez is facing over 22 years in prison for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in 2020.
There was also talk that when his prison sentence was served he would be deported to Canada; however, this has yet to be confirmed.

A jury found Lanez guilty of three counts after shooting Megan in the leg.
He was charged with felony negligent discharge of a firearm, assault with a semiautomatic firearm, and carrying a loaded and unregistered firearm.
He certainly did not expect a guilty verdict, and did his best to minimize his prison sentence.
So Lanez hired Baez to represent him during his appeal.
“I can tell you looking at this case, I sure wish I came sooner rather than later, and unfortunately, this is the way it is, but he’s got me now,” Baez said. “I am ready to give everything I have and hope we will get the best result for him.”
He explained that prior to this conviction, Lanez had never been guilty of any legally recorded crime or misconduct.
“Tory has never been convicted of a crime and he has never faced the situation he is in. So, the adjustment he’s going through is one… it’s new for him,” he continued. “To his credit, he listened to his lawyer. He’s a very articulate person and in all of that he was… there were things in the trial that he wished would have gone the other way.”
Baez went on to explain that mistakes are made in every trial, and he is confident there were mistakes made in this particular trial.
“I would say there’s a good chance there’s a lot of error in the system and in this case that needs to be explored,” Baez concluded.

In addition to Baez, Lanez has hired David Kenner and Matthew Barhoma to represent him in his appeal.

As previously mentioned, Tory and her family clearly did not expect the decision to turn out the way it did.
After he was found guilty “several members of the rapper’s family screamed — calling the jury evil,” per TMZ.
Hours before the jury’s decision, Lanez headed into court holding her son telling cameras she was feeling optimistic about the day.
Boy was he wrong!
