Travis Scott can celebrate one win from his 2021 Astroworld Festival.
According to legal documents obtained by The Blast, the lawsuit regarding financial losses incurred at the concert has been dismissed without prejudice.

Ashlee Lin, on behalf of Ceremony of Roses, has filed to dismiss the lawsuit stemming from their claim that they have suffered significant financial losses related to the famous festival.
The legal papers state that it wants “The entire action of all parties and all causes of action” to be thrown out of court, meaning that the court’s decision fully concludes the entire dispute, including all claims and counterclaims raised by the parties involved.
Notably, Lin requested that the court “Dismiss without prejudice,” allowing him and his client to bring the same claim again in the future. The dismissal was entered on March 22.
CoR in its original lawsuit claimed that their goal, when they partnered with Scott and Live Nation, was to offer attendees additional attractions at the event.
These activities, which include “carnival-style games and entertainment on the Festival grounds,” aim to enhance the fan experience, increase ticket sales and encourage concert-goers to stay on-site and continue spending.
Ultimately, it was determined that the CoR was the most appropriate entity to oversee Entertainment. The global media company later reached an agreement with Scoremore Holdings, Live Nation’s designated promoter for the venture.
CoR Spends At Least $700k During Festivities

As stated in the lawsuit, the agreement assigned CoR to finance, establish, operate and dismantle entertainment, with the right to recover its initial costs and 50% of subsequent earnings.
The CoR’s decision to proceed with the agreement is supported by Live Nation’s hosting of the Astroworld Festival and the reasonable expectation that it will be conducted in a high-quality, safe and secure environment.
The branding outfit also expects Scott and XXG to prioritize safety and professionalism while attracting fans who will stay on location and spend money on various forms of entertainment, including entertainment.
However, due to their failure in this regard, the cancellation of Astroworld prevented CoR from recouping its initial expenditure and resulted in the complete loss of expected profits.
While the filing does not specify the exact amount sought for compensation, it does reveal that the CoR has incurred at least $700k in out-of-pocket expenses for the preparation and operation of the entertainment at the event.
Scott’s Lawyer Seems to be Pointing the Finger at the US Government for the Astroworld Tragedy
Despite the criticism Scott faced after the Astroworld disaster, he was not criminally charged in connection with the heartbreaking incident.
According to The Blast, the 32-year-old superstar is facing multiple lawsuits, along with Epic Records, Live Nation, Harris County Sports & Convention Corporation, and various other businesses and event promoters.
The lawsuit immediately led to widespread speculation about whether Scott would face criminal charges. The immediate answer came when the Harris County District Attorney found insufficient evidence to support the charges.
Following the June 2023 verdict, the “Love Galore” hitmaker’s attorney, Kent Schaffer, told US media that the verdict “confirms what we’ve known all along—that Travis Scott is not responsible for the Astroworld tragedy.”
Schaffer added that now that “this chapter” is closed, he hopes the government will “focus on what matters most—stopping future heartbreaking tragedies like AstroWorld from happening again.”
Fans Furious Over Scott’s Show Cancellation
Later in December, Scott unexpectedly pulled out of his performance at the United Center in Chicago. The venue shared the update in a statement that read:
“Travis Scott’s show at the United Center scheduled for tonight (December 15, 2023) has been postponed. All previously purchased tickets will be honored for the new announced date. More information will be posted here and emailed to ticket holders directly when available.”
Fans were disappointed that the statement did not contain a new date and did not provide an explanation for the singer-songwriter’s absence.
Taking their grievances to his Instagram page, one wrote, “Travis [I] only drive 5 hours to United Center, not your way [just] postponed.”
Another commented, “You make Chicago so dirty bro, I’m so ready for tonight, why didn’t you give me advance notice?”
Travis Scott Takes Time Before He Can Make Music Again
Meanwhile, Scott opened up about losing ten of his fans at the Astroworld Festival in an interview, describing his emotions about the tragedy as “devastating.” In his words:
“I always think about it. The fans are like my family. You know, I love my fans so much. I’m just too devastated. It has moments where it gets rough. You just feel for those people. And their families.”
The incident affected his mental health while working on his album, “Utopia,” and it took him “months and months” after that night to regain his focus and return to making music.
Scott reveals, “Making music, you think about things that happen in life and things that happen in your life, and you dial things in. That moment for the family, for the city, you know, it’s devastating.”
