Following the old adage “don’t play with success,” the Grammy Awards are living up to it by bringing back Trevor Noah as host for the 2024 edition.
This will mark his fourth consecutive year as host for the 66th Grammys, but who’s always counting?
Trevor Noah ‘Excited’ to Host Upcoming Grammys Broadcast
Noah is set to host the Grammys once again as the awards ceremony approaches on February 4, 2024. The former television host made the announcement on his podcast “What Now? With Trevor Noah” early Thursday, December 14.
“I hosted the Grammys. I’m excited about that, yes. It’s a lot of fun. I enjoy the Grammys because I get to watch the show in person and then experience and comment on it in person as it happens,” he said on the show.
The observant comedian took action and shared a clip of the big announcement with his 8.7 million followers, tagging CBS and the Recording Academy.
In response, hundreds of people took to the comments section of the post to congratulate Noah. While one enthusiastically wrote, “Our favorite people!!! Congratulations King,” another stated, “No way!!! He’s hosting again!!! That’s awesome!!! Go, Trevor!!!”
“Who do I need to k-word to attend & meet you at the Grammys… I’ll do it,” a third Instagram user asked. A fourth social media person commented, “Congratulations, I’m so glad you’re hosting again. And I’m excited to watch you!” and the fifth asserts, “No one is stopping your efforts. Love.”
Other celebratory messages included, “the best,” “can’t wait,” and this from a fan hoping Noah will put his hosting time to good use, which read, “What an amazing platform!! When the whole world is watching, your words can help impacting the world with all this chaos going on you are the perfect person to do it!!! Thank you.”
With this gig, the South African star is slowly closing the gap between him and rapper LL Cool J, who has hosted the Grammys for five years, including three times in a row in 30 years.
Celebrities who have hosted the music awards more than three times include the late singer Andy Williams [seven years] and singer-songwriter John Denver [six years].
It’s important to note here that Noah not only hosted the event but is also a current Grammy nominee for Best Comedy Album with “I Wish You Would.” He joined the select group as the fifth Grammy host nominated in the same year.
If he wins, Noah will be the second Grammy host to do so during the show, following singer Kenny Rogers, who won Best Country Vocal Performance, Male for “The Gambler” in 1980.
Noah Admits The Missing Part On Comedy Central Earlier This Year
MEGA
Aside from cementing his name in the world of Grammys, the “Born a Crime” author won the hearts of many during his seven-year tenure as host of Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show.” For every show, he goes out of his way to entertain the audience in the studio and at his home.
Taking over from Jon Stewart in 2015, Noah left a lasting impression on the beloved late-night series, sparking an emotional response when he announced his departure at the end of September 2022. As great as he was at it, Noah was quick to admit that while he missed “the people , culture, and atmosphere,” he didn’t miss the “grind.”
Looking back at the beginning of her “Daily Show” career, she admits that at first she didn’t expect the relentless pace and compared it to the intensity of planning a wedding. In the words of a political commentator:
“Making a daily television show, in many ways, is like planning a wedding. So who do you think the guest is? What do you want to wear? What will happen? Who will make the toast? What speech will be delivered? What does everyone eat? Who sits where? How is it going? And then the wedding happens, and then you go, ‘Okay, we’re going to have another wedding tomorrow.’”
He also revealed that he misses the “discipline” but appreciates not feeling obligated to make an opinion every time he learns about something new, as The Blast detailed in January.
