During an appearance on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” earlier this year, the South African native expressed satisfaction and nostalgia about his previous roles on television. According to The Blast, he admits that while he misses many aspects of it, he is more than grateful to leave the day job after nearly a decade.

When Colbert asked him how long it took him to get used to not having to prepare for the next episode of “The Daily Show” every night, he stated, “You know what, it took, I would say, two weeks, and then I realized, oh no, I don’t need to know, I don’t need to know.”

Noah shared that his current situation allows him to decide when he wants to break away from following the news, a luxury he didn’t have when he hosted the Comedy Central show. Throughout his tenure, he felt compelled to stay up-to-date by repeating the cycle of waking up and watching the news every day.

Admitting that he didn’t expect the show to be so challenging when he first took over hosting in 2015, the “Black Panther” star said:

“Making a daily television show, in many ways, is like planning a wedding. So you’re thinking, who’s the guest? What do you want to wear? What will happen? Who will make the toast? What speech will be delivered? What does everyone eat? Who sits where? How is it going? And then the wedding happens, and then you go, ‘Okay, we’re going to have another wedding tomorrow.

Despite the hard work, the political commentator admits that he misses the sense of discipline from his previous role.
