Let’s move on to the solutions.

Steps to fix “this page is not eligible to have a username” error with Facebook page

First, you need to make someone else your Page admin temporarily, and then let them try to add the username for you. It can work if you choose that friend who doesn’t manage any other FB page.

  1. Sign in to your Facebook account, go to your Page Settings, and then click Page Features.
  2. You will see a text box under “Assign a new page role” where you need to write the name or email or the person you want to make an administrator or give the administration rights; select the person from the list.
  3. Next, click on “Editor” and change it to “Administrator” and then click “Add”.
  4. The person you selected will receive a notification informing you that they have become the admin of your Page.
  5. If you have the assigned administrator’s login credentials, you can either sign out of your account and then sign in to your account or ask them to sign in to your account to change the username.
  6. In the menu bar at the top right, click the arrow, and under the “Your Pages” heading, select the page for which you want to set the username.
  7. Then click About > Create @username page.
  8. Type any username you want and check if it’s available as each page can only have one unique username so other Facebook users can easily tag you.
  9. Click “Create Username” and you’re done! Your username is ready. Make sure to remove your friend as a Page admin once you’ve established the username.
  10. If Facebook still remains this username is not available, you can try similarly with other friends’ accounts.
