Three Canadian men thought they were doing well when they filled their grocery cart with butter and walked out the door without paying.
But police in Guelph, Ontario are fighting back, and cracking down on sloppy butter thieves before they can make off with their rich, creamy catch.
Just before 4pm on Christmas Eve, officers responded to a grocery store where two men were spotted placing a box of butter in a shopping cart and taking it out to a car that was waiting outside for them.
When checking the parking lot near another business, police saw the same car parked outside another grocery store. They arrested two male occupants of the vehicle, along with a third man who approached the officer as he exited the store.

Even Guelph Police couldn’t help but poke fun at the strange alleged theft, joking in their announcement that the suspects “may have had their holiday cooking plans interrupted.”
