Triptych, also known as Trada, will be available on Netflix on Wednesday, February 22, 2023. The Mexican thriller is supposed to have eight episodes, and according to sources, all of them will be available on Netflix on the same day. The planned series was written by Leticia López Margalli, author of the suspense drama Dark Desire or Oscuro Deseo, and directed by Leonardo D’Antoni and Alba Gil.
The cast of Triptych includes Maite Perroni, David Chocarro, Flavio Medina, and Nuria Bages. Ofelia Medina, Ana Layevska, Claudia Lobo, Aldo Gallardo, and Daniella Valdez all appeared in the series. To be sure, the mystery program reunites the beautiful combo of Margalli and Perroni following Dark Desire, another Netflix series. Triptych’s release date and time has been planned for February 22, 2023, at 3:01 a.m. Murdaugh Murders: A Southern Scandal, a documentary, was also released on the OTT platform that day.
What can we expect from Triptych?
The Triad plot is as follows:
“Because the truth has several faces, nothing is what it seems, and to reveal it, we must first understand its three faces. Tension, mystery and drama reach new heights in Triad.”
Based on true events, Triptych will follow a forensic expert, Rebecca, who arrives at the crime scene and discovers that the victim’s face looks exactly like hers. He soon discovers that he has been separated from his two identical brothers and realizes that his entire existence up to this point has been a lie.
To reverse the change, he “embarks on a risky adventure to discover the truth about his origins.” Perroni plays three different characters: a businessman, a dancer and Rebecca. The trailer for TrADA, released by Netflix last month, underscores this point. Over its 1:56-minute runtime, the brutal short film reveals how Rebecca resembles two other women, and how her birth date and DNA matching the deceased entrepreneur’s have fueled her burning curiosity.
Despite the protests of his colleagues, he decides to continue the mission to find the cause of their split. Rebecca’s life is threatened as she gets closer to the truth, and she is attacked. The trailer holds your interest until the very end, thanks to the catchy background soundtrack and the excellent camera angles of Alejandro Chávez and Josué Eber Morales. Only one complaint: there are no English subtitles or dubbing in the promotional video, but it is believed that Netflix will add subtitles once the series starts.
The Netflix show was announced in January last year.
Perroni, winner of GQ’s Man of the Year Award, revealed his participation in the unreleased Netflix episode in a video interview in January. He stated:
“I am very happy that I can now make an exclusive announcement. Leticia López Margalli, creator of Oscuro deseo (Dark Desire), and I are working on a new project that makes me excited, scared and happy.”
This is the popular actor’s first release of the year, and he will be starring in a TV program following Dark Desire. Importantly, Dark Desire season 1 became Netflix’s most-watched non-English language program in its first run, so it remains to be seen whether the Margalli-Perroni team can repeat their success in their next drama. According to the press release, “the characters dig into their own history, one by one, to solve the mystery of their lives.”
