Tristan Thompson has finally broken his social media silence regarding the death of his mother, Andrea Thompson. The 31-year-old last posted on Instagram before his mother’s death and returned online to share his pain with his followers.

In his post, the NBA player shared that he was “in the deepest part of grief & sorrow” as he described how he felt saddened by his death.

In his first Instagram post since his mother’s death, Tristan poured his heart out to fans in an emotional piece about him still reeling from her death. The NBA player’s mother died in January after suffering a heart attack at her home in Toronto.

Describing her loss, Thompson said she was “in disbelief” and “in the deepest sorrow & grief.” He credits his late mother as his “supporter/superhero” in addition to taking care of his siblings.

“I can’t thank you enough for always being a woman of faith, being one of God’s warriors, fighting through whatever the world throws at us,” the basketball player said. “You always protect us through prayer. My hero, you have fought all the battles you needed to, and it is time for you to go home.”

‘I Want To Say Thank You For Choosing Me As Your Son’

As part of his post, Tristan shared some memorable photos of his years of bonding with his mother and children.

He also highlighted his mother’s efforts over the years in raising him to lead a virtuous life.

“Mom, I know you’re watching me; I want to thank you for choosing me as your child. You dedicated your life to your boys & the church,” she continued in her emotional post. “Pray & fast for family/friends because you know how evil this world is.”

The former Chicago Bulls star later promised that his impact on his and his siblings’ lives “will never go unnoticed or unappreciated.”

She went on to list her qualities as “a great mom, role model, best friend, & the strongest woman” she knows.

Tristan also took the opportunity to apologize to his mother for the “wrong decisions” he had made all along, which may have caused his mother “shame & pain.”

He seems to refer to his many sexual scandals, promising to change his ways and live up to her expectations.

“Actions speak louder than words. So I won’t just say sorry. Look forward to how I’ll show the world what a great son you’ve raised. I’ll show you that even when we fall & make mistakes, we get back up,” he said, also sharing his commitment to take care of his epileptic sister, Amari Thompson.

The basketball player wrote that the “pain” of his death will never go away as he remembers the many memories they had together and have yet to make.
