Trump impeachment lawyer calls on Georgia election fraud prosecutor Nathan Wade to step down after explosive Fani Willis affair allegations: report

A Trump impeachment lawyer is urging the lead prosecutor in the Georgia election fraud case against the former president to step down amid explosive allegations he was hired while having an affair with Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis.

Norm Eisen, who served as special counsel to the House Judiciary Committee during former President Donald Trump’s first impeachment trial, told The Washington Post that the controversy over the hiring of Nathan Wade as special prosecutor will only continue — and that allegations of undue risk delay a decision. for the former president and his 14 co-defendants.

“If he came to me as the ethics czar … I would tell him that regardless of legal discretion is the better path of courage,” Eisen told the outlet.

He went on to call the couple’s personal relationship “unwise,” and added that while there is no legal basis to disqualify Wade from his role as special prosecutor under Georgia law, the couple’s alleged behavior — such as allegations that Wade rained Willis with airline tickets and other prizes — could violate Fulton County’s ethics policy.

On Friday, county Commissioner Bob Ellis demanded that Willis provide any information related to Wade’s appointment as special prosecutor in the Trump case.

The request was made during an investigation into whether there was any “misappropriation” of taxpayer funds stemming from Wade’s hiring to handle the Trump case, which has earned the Atlanta-area attorney more than $650,000.

The alleged affair between Willis and Wade first surfaced last week after Trump’s co-defendant Mike Roman filed court papers seeking to have criminal charges against him dismissed over the couple’s “improper” and “clandestine” affair.
