Trump prosecutor Nathan Wade is under fire for giving evasive answers about his estranged wife’s alcohol, drug and medication use, according to newly unsealed divorce documents.
Wade has been embroiled in a separation dispute with his wife of 26 years, Joycelyn Wade, since filing for divorce on November 2, 2021.
He filed papers to end the marriage just one day after being appointed special prosecutor in the Donald Trump election interference investigation by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, with whom he is now said to be in a “clandestine relationship,” according to court filings.
Despite seeking a divorce, Nathan repeatedly failed to fully answer basic questions and provide documentation requested by Joycelyn in the case, instead providing information that was “grossly inadequate as to be useless,” the wife claims in court papers from February 2023 — which have been unsealed by a judge on Monday.
Joycelyn asked her estranged husband to provide information about his alcohol consumption, the brands of alcohol he drank and if he ever drove within an hour of drinking – to which he replied: “Red wine once a week at home with dinner,” her lawyer claimed. in filing.

When the wife questioned whether he had used any drugs — legal or illegal — Nathan replied, “no illegal drug use,” court papers allege, which Joycelyn’s attorney claims failed “to address any legal or prescription drug use at all.”
The lawyer later stated that Nathan disclosed he had taken pain medication and antibiotics after the April 2020 surgery but did not identify “which medication, the duration of the prescription, the dosage, the prescribing authority, nor whether he took the medication as prescribed,” the court documents claim.
There is no suggestion in the filing that Wade has displayed any previous issues with taking drugs or using alcohol.
Answers to these questions and more about her finances were initially sought by Joycelyn in November 2021 so she could negotiate a fair settlement in their divorce. However, since then, his lawyer claimed in court papers, Nathan has repeatedly failed to cooperate by refusing to provide basic information.

In fact, Nathan was subject to a civil contempt order in August 2023 for disobeying a judge’s order from May to turn over discovery to Joycelyn’s attorney, court papers show.
Nathan “does not want to cooperate and will not comply unless forced to do so by order of this Court,” attorney Joycelyn argued.
Joycelyn’s team filed another motion in September, again arguing Nathan avoided turning over financial records — specifically claiming he had earned more than half a million dollars working on the Trump investigation but did not “produce a single document proving this income.”
Nathan “knowingly obfuscated this civil litigation for his own purposes,” Jocelyn’s lawyer alleged. “Furthermore, while earning a large amount, [Nathan] has provided almost nothing to [Joycelyn] for his support and survival because his own bank account is often overdrawn.”

Attorneys for both Nathan and Joycelyn Wade did not immediately return requests for comment Tuesday.
The Cobb County divorce case has dragged on for more than two years but came into the public eye earlier this month when allegations of an affair between Nathan and Willis surfaced in a filing by Trump’s co-defendant, Mike Roman.
Roman claims Wade has poured the money he earned as a prosecutor into lavish trips for himself and Willis, his boss. Roman also referred to the divorce file, saying it contained evidence in the form of credit card purchases made by Wade.
At the same time, Joycelyn’s attorney served Willis with a subpoena to have him deposed in the divorce case, but on Monday a judge delayed the deposition at least until he could hear from Wade — who also has not been deposed in the case. not yet.

Superior Court Judge Henry Thompson on Monday also unsealed the divorce case, saying the recent wave of interest and allegations of misconduct against Nathan and Willis meant it should be made public.
Thompson is the third judge assigned to the case after two previous judges recused themselves — one because he had contributed to Wade’s campaign to become a Superior Court judge, court papers show.
Wade has also changed lawyers several times while Joycelyn’s team has been the same throughout the case.
Thompson also ruled Monday that Joycelyn has the right to disclose any alleged affair by Nathan in the case.
Willis’ lawyer, Cinque Axom, argued that his client should not be deposed in the divorce case – because it was only about how to divide marital assets, which he claimed the DA had “nothing to do with.”
The lawyer also claimed any alleged affair was irrelevant in the case — although he did not say whether the allegations were true or false.
However, Joycelyn’s lawyer, Andrea Hastings, told the judge on Monday: “I want to know how [Nathan] has spent his money. I have reason to believe he spent it on other women and it was my client’s money.”
